MSNBC was saying the first Russian soldier has been sentenced or convicted or some shite in a Ukrainian war crimes trial.

It got me thinking, I honestly know nothing of war crime trials and when they normally happen.

It is if they are 100% political and you're trying to drum up a world war.

The term does make you laugh, war and crime, isnt there some story about splitting a baby?

How come the winners of wars never commit war crimes?

General LeMay, who firebombed half the world and for good measure decided to nuke it said "I have no doubt if we dont win this thing I will be tried for war crimes".

Well, if you can have a U2 concert and half the world leaders fighting against Putin can casually travel in and out and be on camera while being able to ship in weapons to hurt Russia….I would say yeah.

It's every bit as normal as stopping counting of votes in the middle of the tallying process on election night.

If the purpose of the trials is to score opinion polling points with the viewing audience, then the answer is yes.

Russian apologists are sick. May as well do it now while memories of frustrated Russians( who were getting slaughtered around Kyiv) play target practice with innocent civilians.

Years from now the useful idiots on the American right shall claim that it was years ago & memories have faded, witnesses died, etc....

I’m still waiting on the chemical warfare attack footage those dastardly Russians committed over three weeks ago. Anyone?

I don’t think this is a war crimes trial like you’re thinking of, like Nuremberg or Tokyo etc. There isn’t a tribunal set up and the ICC isn’t involved. If that were occurring, yes it would be unusual for it to happen before the conflict ended.

This is just Ukrainian courts trying people for “war crimes”.

Hell, desertion didn't even go to trial. One battle I read about was an obscure French vs. British around 1150. Brits hired a lot of mercenaries. As the battle lined up the mercenaries changed their mind and retreated.
The Brit commander said 'Forget the French, kill the mercenaries.' They did. Every one of them. And then lost the battle to the French. Justice was swift in war.

This. Looks like you are correct.

The whole "omfg they are killing civilians! It's the end of the world" narrative is exhausting and too hypocritical. I mean.. after we left Afghanistan, we immediately killed a family full of kids... and then had the audacity to claim it was an acceptable loss. 6 or 7 kids who will never get the chance to grow up... but it's okay, because our Pentagon said it was acceptable. We now decide the worth of lives in other countries.
