Saw it live and it was great.

Shockingly accurate historically (did not expect that).

The fact that the actors playing the parts were not all white did not bother me in the least. I would hope that adding "color" to such a fantastic TRUE story would make the history of America and its early years accessible and acceptable to people (notwithstanding current events).

But I can't help but think if a similar story was played by actors of a different race/ethnicity of the actual historical figures (for example, Gary Oldman playing MLK, Jr.), there would be a firestorm.

Something troubling about that.

Regardless, if you have not seen it and have Disney+, you absolutely should watch it.

“And back to the Jackson Five Story, starring the Allman Brothers!”

“And now back to Zorro starring John Wayne!”

I've not seen it, never will, but clearly, race swapping every single character is the very definition of appropriation.

Problem is, those who did it have no intention of emulating the greatness of the Founders.

Best I can tell it's to mock and ridicule them by today's woke standards.

With you.

Went in expecting to hate it. Teenage daughter (no pics you degenerates) was all caught up in the hype and wanted to see it.

It was shockingly accurate.

It was very entertaining.

It was not the hip hop/(c)rap fest I was expecting.

Will be interesting to see how the live stage play will translate to TV.

Hell speaking English is for any non-English immigrants if you want to get technical.

Not true at all. The show reveres and admires the founding fathers and is very pro-America.

The Osmond Brothers, not Allman Brothers.

Supposedly, the Ron Chernow biography inspired, so the story line is likely somewhat accurate.

Same. He has to take some liberties for entertainment purposes, Mostly with how they all met in real life, but the gist of the story is very accurate.

Cultural appropriation (which is bullshite IMO) is removing all context from a very specific cultural artifact for your own entertainment.

Hamilton is not in any way related to that. Historical events are not cultural artifacts. Hamilton doesn't remove context from the events it portrays, it adds far more context than most K-12 education has ever covered.

LMM was making a statement that these events should be seen just as meaningful to black and Latino history as they are to white Americans, while making parallels between debates over the size and scope of government, immigration, political scandal, etc that continue today.
