Exactly why property taxes should be illegal.

I think property taxes should be illegal because as long as the government can take your property for failing to pay a tax, you don't really own it.

I feel bad for these residents. The City Council sets the property tax rate. Hopefully they can vote them all out next election.

Crime in major cities is falling in absolute numbers

I was speaking in terms of rates.

A lot of this is from teenagers who went around car jacking people during COVID when they didn’t have to go to class

DC is a special situation. That situation doesn't apply to any other city.

So you should buy a few houses there.

Top dollar no less.

This is why no one believes the liberal bullshite anymore. If Baltimore is doing so great go walk down any of the “former” high crime areas and tell me how it goes. I’m sure the board would pay for your airplane ticket.

I heard cities are doing great these days.

Yep. There's a whole thread about how cities becoming uninhabitable is just a right-wing conspiracy.

I live in Baltimore county, outside the city of Baltimore. Baltimore is in the same doom loop as Detroit, Philly, etc. The tax base is leaving, infrastructure is crumbling, city 'leadership' is a parade of black incompetents that are basically looting what's left of the city. Crime is out of control, they're prosecuting cops, when they can hire them. Businesses are fleeing, downtown is basically abandoned.

This city should be a gleaming jewel: it's got a great four season climate, it's on the water, it's got great history and architecture, you can be in horse country in a half hour from downtown, the eastern shore in an hour, and on and on. Instead, it's a ruined shite hole, the result of fifty plus years of Democrat party rule.

I learned all of this simply by watching "The Wire."
