Or can they exist on both ends?

If you go far enough in both directions, the far ends of the spectrum meet up.

leftists claim they can be anarchists but it doesn't really work out logically, because their version requires a will of the population, which requires force backing that will, which is a collective force (aka the state)

at least when right-anarchists speak, it's all about individual contracting, which fits in with the actual philosophy

I lean right and have oddly become more of an anarchist as I've gotten older. Seems like the opposite of how things are supposed to progress in life

Well, most of those people also feel they should be able to rely on a state for basic necessities as well

Wouldn’t a true anarchist be apolitical?

The real life application of the term Anarchist is associated with the Left even if it has a philosophical and intellectual home on the Right (anarcho-Capitalism etc). There are a lot of "anarchists" on the Left who believe it erroneously means angry , violent, nihilistic, unbathed Statists who like to cause chaos and violence.

The people who riot calling themselves 'anarchists' are left wing. It's just cooler than calling yourself a communist.

Anarchy simply = absence of law. The best example of anarchy in the US was the pioneers moving west. There was no statehood, no jurisdiction for sheriffs or courts. However, this did not result in people murdering, robbing and raping at random. Settlers has guns, manners and religious faith.

If your scale of ideology is based on 'Govt control over the individual vs. Freedom and self reliance, then anarchy is extreme right wing. It is the opposite of totalitarianism which is left wing.

The far right and far left are ideological opposites. The horseshoe theory stuff is pretty weak.

But in practice, they yield the exact same results. We live in the real world not a text book.

Lysander Spooner is a great example of an individualist anarchist who has influenced the right far more than the left.

Anarchy commies really have to twist to fit the concept of anarchy into their ideology. In reality it's incompatible.

They're just commies

Normally "anarchists" are communists under another name though. Antifa fits that mold.

Correct. It was bogus in the 60s and it still is. It was created by not defining the basis of the left/right line.
