She is running as a Republican and will be fighting for the outgoing Richard Shelby's seat. She's married to former Alabama football star and team captain Wesley Britt.

Katie is really smart and has the credentials to be an effective Senator for Alabama, but she’s going to get demolished unless she has a creative campaign. Especially if a few other people who are considering a run jump in. Mo’s still the heavy favorite.
She’s going to have a well funded campaign. Alabama could do a lot worse.
I know this is far down the list of qualifications but Alabama needs a Senator (whether it be her or someone else) who can be up there for 20+ years so we can get someone with seniority. That’s why Shelby has been so valuable.

Katie is cute and definitely the kind of woman mothers want their sons dating. Her candidacy is interesting but she's going to have to do a shite ton of work and raise a lot of cash to overcome her CoC connection (which is a big red flag in today's GOP) and a Trump endorsement for Mo Brooks. But even then, it may not be enough for her.
