Not a hoax. You can see the ribbon cutting and the people working there on the news broad cast.

quote:

It’s been two years in the making, but now Ellie’s Place on the fourth floor of the King County Courthouse is officially open for business.

"There is not another one like it in the USA. Anyone can request that guns be taken away from a person that a judge deems to be a threat to others… There’s a new unit that will remove those guns.

Notice they did not say AR-15 even. It's GUNS!

BTW.... you can just simply be accused of something and have them taken....

This will likely not end well for them.

I deem this unit a threat to others. So they will have to remove them unarmed

I have no problem if libs want to voluntarily turn in their guns.

Probably will save lives.

Having guns confiscated without any adjudication is a clear violation of the 4th Amendment.

Not true. You need documented evidence a person is a threat to themselves or others, and a judge makes the ultimate decision.

That’s a damned bold statement considering what we now know about law enforcement competence in Broward County.

It’s actually a ridiculous statement based on what we now know about law enforcement in Broward County.

I’m all in.

If we could save just one life throwing out two Constitutional amendments, we should definitely do that.

I wonder how long it will take before they get in to a shootout with someone who doesn't want to give up their guns. It will be particularly interesting if it's someone that was accused, but has no past record.

You are soooo right. Heroin laws and confiscations prevent all overdoses each year...

18 calls to a competent sheriff's office plus a law like this would have given them cause to take his guns for up to a year.

I'm not suggesting this is a good or constitutional idea, but this is how you get guns out of the hands of a dangerous person before they commit a crime.
