Interview in Hollywood, gets told "we are not hiring straight white men"

No joke. I work in development as a low level exec and am thinking about moving jobs. I was told me being white and straight was a mark against me at the interview. How is that legal? Here's the dirty truth: On the movie star side: What Hollywood liberals are really doing is taking the white movie "stars," and surrounding them with minority character actors. They stop hiring white characters (Unless they are British, Canadian, or Australian. Thanks H1B visa program!) and won't let a minority actually be the star, but they will plant them around rich white liberals who want to feel good about themselves. On the writer's side: The WGA now pays for diverse hires out of their pocket (Yes, that includes gay white men even though they lead nearly every writer's room anyway.) So the TV shows get FREE writers if they are women or diverse. The problem is, young white writers get screwed and old white liberal writers just keep hiring each other while patting themselves on the back for their rotating "diversity spots." WTF are young entertainment workers supposed to do, say "Thank you for starving me in the name of diversity?" Hollywood is truly sick.
