Sorry but when did this stop being the case?

I have just seen a clip of a Lady Gaga interview on a US talk show and is basically saying we should always believe the alleged victim.

What is going on? This is a very dangerous path to go down.

Well, then let's go round up those Duke lacrosse players and throw them in the slammer.

She's a musical genius, not an actual genius.

Not sure what your point is here. Should we stop prosecuting crimes in this country?

I could be wrong, but I believe that what these people are saying is, we should take seriously the allegations, not that we should throw everyone in jail who is accused of a crime.

Isn't it interesting how views change when the shoe is on the other foot.

Weren't folks on this board advocating for rounding up all Muslims, for no other reason than...they're Muslims?

No. They weren’t.
You may have a point. Folks here were advocating for the murder of Muslim, for no other reason than...they're Muslims.

Good catch.

The presumption of innocence applies in criminal cases where in we have a burden of proof “beyond a reasonable doubt.“. I get so very tired of people across the political spectrum attempting to apply this standard in a broader sense. Put simply, it is idiotic.

Should we believe an accuser in instances of reported sexual assault? On the much lower standard of “preponderance of the evidence,“ I DO tend to give the accuser the benefit of the doubt… In the complete absence of any other evidence. Of course, the case in which there is an “absence of any other evidence“ is extraordinarily rare.

The lefts abject dismissal of the FBIs supplemental findings is a troubling preview of how they’ll respond to the Mueller report.

The bar certainly needs to be higher than (fill in the blank) happened 30 years ago and I do not know where, when, with whom, everyone else supposedly there disagrees, and never reported it.

One has to suspend all reason to buy into that dumb shite.

This was not a credible accusation and should never have been treated as such, if you tried to place any other act in the blank you would just get laughed at as this lying whore should have been.

All absolutely true, which is where “absence of any other evidence” comes into play.

Yeah, making the same mistake over and over and over again is the way to go.

In the case of Ford, the suspicious timing of her accusation was evidence for many. Her political background and ties... the way the allegations were funneled through political channels... the people she surrounded herself with.

While there may have been no hard evidence, a reasonable person has to understand that there can be none if she’s lying. Possible motives to lie can’t be dismissed, and that’s exactly what the media did in this case.

This is a lofty concept well removed from job interviews, brah

When you interview for a job, any allegations are assumed true, even if they are shaky with no corroboration and no way for you to disprove them

Like all the women Bill had a go with?

Dr. Ford still has every right to file a complaint and use the court system.

Hell, she can take it all the way to the Supreme Court.
