With almost 100 million people vaccinated, 30 million confirmed cases, and estimates of unconfirmed ranging from 70-90%, a fourth surge would only undermine any arguments for efficacy of NPI and the vaccines themselves. Those numbers translate to almost everyone being exposed. If there is no lasting immunity, there is no vaccine and this thing stays until the herd is culled and those that can survive it do...and live with it.

I've lost all faith in the critical thinking skills of anyone in a leadership role at the national level. No one has the capacity to articulate the realities of this situation and where we are. No one in journalism is smart enough to ask the critical questions.

We have been asked time after time for the past year to "hold on a little while longer" this phrase should be answered with "no longer" if you cannot state what the end goal of these measures are and what criteria needs to be met for all restrictions to be lifted. No one has stated the end goal, that is why there is so much conflicting messages. We should put pressure on every person in charge to answer these questions so that we the people can decided whether or not they are acceptable and follow their restrictions/measures.

1. It has been a full year now and they still cannot state what their goal is, is it complete eradication of the virus? is it herd immunity? Is it for everyone to have the opportunity to get the vaccine?

2. It has been a full year now and they still cannot state what criteria for full reopen would be: ratio of deaths to cases? ratio of hospitalizations to cases? ratio of deaths to hospitalizations? % of population with the Vaccine? period of time where the vaccine is available where supply exceeds demand?

IF you cannot answer both of those questions you have no right to demand or honestly even request that alter their behavior from pre-covid.

We are vaccinating over 2 million a day.

In another week, we will have 14 million more vaccinated.

Hospitalizations lag 2 to 3 weeks behind infections so these hospitalizations are from infections that are 28 to 42 million more vaccines.
