Impeachment 4D Chess

Could McConnell and Graham be sending signals that they plan to "rig" the impeachment and not call any witnesses so that the Democrats will push the impeachment vote through?
We know the Democrats are afraid of a trial. They don't want the whistle blower, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, Adam Schiff, etc, to go anywhere near the witness stand. If they think the Republicans are going to vote to dismiss the moment the trial starts, they may feel emboldened to go ahead and impeach the President. Then they can claim that the Republicans are the ones acting in bad faith by not holding a "fair and just trial".
What if McConnell does a 180 and says that they will call witnesses and hold a trial after all?

It’s 4D Political Chess at it’s finest. If creepy joe is the dems front runner, do you sink him now in the senate hearings? Or do you wait and hope creepy joe is the dems candidate in the election and torpedo his arse then?

There is a lot of conflict going on in the Democrat Party on what to do right now. I think they thought the impeachment inquiry hearings would go better than they did. If they could have a "do over", I don't think they would do this.
The Democrats and their media accomplices have been telling their base about the "overwhelming and irrefutable" evidence that this evil, corrupt orange bastard has been performing impeachable acts for so long, they really can't back off, now.
My guess is that they won't impeach, and that they will say something like, "It's too close to the election and we don't want to look like we're doing this for political reasons. We'll let THE PEOPLE impeach him in November."
Then they'll vote to censure.

McConnell won't do this; it's not in his nature to bluff. McConnell knows as well as all of us that even though the chance is small Trump could still lose the 2020 election and he wants every minute that Trump is in office do good shite like continue to put Constitutionalists in the federal courts, get an infrastructure deal done, complete all the trade deals, etc.

That's probably the debate, now. If you wait until before the election, there may not be a forum to torpedo him in, and it may look too political.
If Joe gets blown up, maybe Hillary shakes off the dust and gets in (not a bad thing).
Remember, we have other investigations that may be wrapping up in the spring/summer.
