I'm sick of people saying the middle class is worse off than 4 decades ago.

It's simply an asinine assertion. Sure, some big things such as education and health care are more expensive, but 99% of the goods we consume on a daily basis are by an order of magnitude cheaper.
Common household applicances:
Standard of living is about how much STUFF we can buy and by that measure, it's not even close: the middle class has more access than any point in history

One of the best ways for the middle class to "get better" rather quickly is to stop getting divorced.

You mean 2 sources of income is better than one?

And more debt than ever right now.

all those items lasted longer back in the day
plus there is a lot more things that the middle class buys that wasn't around back then

Yep. Completely

Yeah, and the "access price" to middle-classdom is asinine if you go through the door of a university to get there.
Flurp durp I can buy a fridge so much easier!! But I can't buy a fricking house because I already have a mortgage payment in a student loan

It's not just that. Divorce is a wealth-destroyer. The biggest one we have.

The standard of living is higher today and I think some people get stuck in yesteryear salary as a comparison. Products are also much better and offer more fesutes just look at cars. A typical Ford Focus or Honda Civic has features 20 years ago found only on luxury cars if even available back then.

Did you pay more for daycare than what your house costs?
How much was a college degree?
And you think health insurance is the same?
Yeah that's not accurate.

I can tell you right now, your chart sucks
Just bought a new washer, and dishwasher
Got my dryer fixed rather pay the replacement costs, and there was nothing on the market remotely close to your 2013 prices

Making products cheaper doesn't mean anything if your discretionary income decreases faster than the goods youre buying.

If I forced the average person in the middle class today to live like an upper middle class person from 1970 they would shite their Collective pants

I've thought about this. I paid like $20/mo for a home phone and $13/mo for basic cable when I got married. My monthly cellphone bill is $300ish, my cable/internet bill is $200ish and I have Netflix and Amazon Prime and Xbox Live

Do because healthcare costs more, we can make blanket statements that the middle class is worse off?
Food is cheaper, energy is cheaper, most things in your house are cheaper, etc.
