One hour wait. I line in an area surrounded by liberals and they have drank the kool aid on this voter ID crap.
There is a volunteer walking around to answer any questions people have on the voting process. Three of them have asked her what the need to vote. One lady said, “I brought my passport, my SS card, blah, blah, blah” the Volunteer looked at her and said “do you have a drivers license?” The lady was shocked that’s all you need to vote.
They are convinced that this is some sort of crazy conspiracy to trick everyone that wants to vote. Not to mention that all of this info is available online.

Yep, it's insane.
Vice did a story today about how a college student was "disenfranchised" out of their vote.
They supposedly took their student ID, a power bill, a lease agreement and a couple of other forms of identification but wasn't allowed to vote.
Very first comment under the article said "all you needed was a driver's license you dumbass."

So, you're saying there's a huge liberal turnout?

Not a single one of these documents proves citizenship. Foreign students are issued student IDs.

Well he said he was in a liberal area, so that's a logical conclusion to come too.

In the Houston Heights??? Yeah ... brah.
I’m here to do my part to balance it out a little. Luckily my colleague in Katy said the lines are equally long.

quote:The purpose of voter ID’s is to verify the person on the voting roster is the person voting. Obviously a drivers license and passport are probably the most valid forms, but they aren’t verifying the citizenship, since that is specifically under the authority of the federal government.

Not exactly. To register to vote, one must simply check a box attesting he or she is a citizen, under threat of being charged with a felony. That is not enough.
Texas does not allow using drivers licenses or government-issued ID from states such as California that do not check citizenship to issue its version, in turn. Hence, Texas' form of voter ID ensures citizenship.

It’s about proving identity, not citizenship or other “qualifications”
They have the voter rolls for that. It’s done in dvance

So you think that every single voter registration -- which only requires one to check a box that he or she is a citizen -- is followed up to check its veracity?
You're full of shite.
Texas' voter ID is a de facto check of citizenship. Now cry.
