I still believe Trump is a good POTUS and is doing an admirable job thus far. My problem with Trump is he's going to become ineffective politically if he continues to allow these Dim/Never Trumpers to have their way. What kept the POTUS from telling Nancy and Schmuck that the government shutdown is their problem, bring me a bill/legislation that provides the security and protection that I promised the American people?

Trump could have taken his message to the people, explained exactly why he's not caving into a buncha Swamp politicians and signing a bill/legislation that doesn't secure the southern border and certainly doesn't provide sufficient protection for the country.

This national emergency declaration is within his power but it should have been done after playing real hardball with the Dims. He has the upper hand if the government is shutdown. He could show the American people the crap legislation item by item and why in good conscience he couldn't sign it without betraying the American people, particularly his supporters.

Me either. My wife, brothers and friends don't always agree with me but that's not cause to turn my back on them.

Agreed.

I don’t regret voting for him. I just regret voting R in past federal elections bc of these traitorous bastards that should never have agreed to the amnesty provisions of this bill.

That the alternative was Hillary is enough to keep me from ever regretting my vote.

The only way I could ever possibly regret voting for Trump would be if someone could figure out a way to go back in time and reverse history, placing a different opponent against him in 2016.

I enjoy seeing Trump's most ridiculous fans become disillusioned, but there is only so much he can do. I think he could do a lot better in messaging to a broader swath of Americans on this topic, but he can't will Congress to action.

The Dims are loving this for their anti Trump propaganda, it fits their narrative that Trump is an illegitimate POTUS and he's a reckless buffoon.

We're fricked. Might as well accept that and start working on making things for yourself and those around you as good as possible.

He can veto this amnesty shite sandwich, demand the clean CR that he signed back in January that everyone can accept and declare the NE on his own anyway.

Putting his name on this abortion of a bill is a disaster and gives too much cover to the rank and file in his party to hide behind blaming democrats and the courts.

He can make his party feel the heat from their base.

Instead he just gave them a lot of cover to hide behind.

That's poor leadership.

I kind of agree. Maybe we'll see the tide turn at some point, but a combination of short attention spans, pockets of fringe left and batshit right and a populace that's timid about identity politics has practically eliminated America's position as a bastion for western thought.

Who's turning their back on Trump? I'm saying he needs to find a more politically savvy way to get these Swampers to comply with his wishes. I can think of some other things that require a national emergency declaration besides border security...., protecting the sanctity and lives of the unborn and the catastrophic insolvency of the US if a balanced budget amendment isn't passed.

The tide turned when it became OK to avoid assimilation and just bring the shitty culture/behaviors/politics you left behind in your own country. Add in millennial idiots, social media, etc. and you've got the recipe for impending socialism / economic collapse.

Have you not read the threads about him signing this bill? Several seem to be jumping off the train it appears. CB54 is having a meltdown because of a less than spectacular press briefing. You can't hit a homer every time you step up to the plate so I'll not bad mouth him when our best hitter whiffs occasionally.

I think the attitude of Americans in allowing that ("assimilation isn't important") is worse than the actual impacts of failure to assimilate, IMO. Contrast that with Europe, for example, where the failure to assimilate itself is at the heart of the issues.

In short, our failure will mostly be caused from within, in my view.

Hell, it's racist to imply that immigrants should assimilate. Another example of how that card has been used to effectively neuter discussions we should be having.
