May 2018 he pushed through a 500 million dollar tax package to balance his budget, July/August of 2019 (a year later) and he brags about a 500 million dollar surplus.
I guess the tax was Jindal’s fault, and the surplus is because Edwards is a financial wizard.

It should be balanced. It means he taxed the shite out of us and probably still has no real solution with the money. I have yet to hear what the plans are for it. I would like my tax money back personally.

A surplus is a policy failure that taxes citizens too much, keeps them from keeping their $ and spending and promoting economic growth.

Typically yes and should normally be followed up by tax cuts that gets us to balanced or as close to balanced as possible without going back into a major deficit.
However, creating a surplus on the back of the largest tax increase in state history is just damn ridiculous.

I swear to God if Rispone wins I'd love to get 3 of those mugs 1 for 2 of my brother in laws and my father in law....I just sit there and grin when they talk about Edwards winning.....They couldn't believe that Edwards didn't win the primary....when I told them why they had no retort ....it was glorious.
ETA Then when I told them that Edwards was an idiot to kowtow to Weston-Broome in putting the St George vote on the same ballot as the primary assuming he actually wanted to win the primary they actually agreed.....there may be hope for them yet eventually.
