So your shtick is to jump from thread to thread making what you think is a valid point and moving on when you realize your idiocy is indefensible

I’ll preface this by saying I don’t know a lot about this story prior to entering this thread but your quote is a little misleading. It does say they spoke with investigators about it but many are backing out of testifying. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty in the case against him. One thing is for sure though, his case needs to go to trial and he probably should at minimum be forced to retire.

So what?! Some SEALs believe we should follow the Geneva Convention and some don’t. ISIS shows no mercy. We show no mercy.

That’s not how the Oath of Enlistment works.

Fair enough. I don’t know all of the rules. Are the war crimes codified somewhere? Clearly if he murders someone it is a crime...I’m specifically wondering about “war crimes”. I’m sincerely asking. Is it in the military justice code? Im interested in reading up on it

It’s going to be a difficult case to prosecute not least because of the prosecutorial misconduct stuff.

But there are contradicting stories and, IIRC, there weren’t any other Americans present when it allegedly happened.

Jihadist ideology makes them ready to die. They’re fine with it and it doesn’t phase them. Short of killing every single one of them they won’t stop trying to recruit and spread their ideology and commit acts of terror. The only way to destroy their morale is to go after what they care about. We should be indiscriminately going after their wives, kids, etc and killing them all.

Pardoning him is a liability. Regular guys have trouble transitioning to civilian life, I highly doubt this guy can handle it.

The most serious allegation against Gallagher, 39, is a premeditated murder charge in connection with the stabbing death of an unarmed and seriously wounded Islamic State fighter near the Iraqi city of Mosul in 2017.

How terrible. He killed an enemy fighter.

What he is accused of goes beyond even the excuse of “war is hell.” He should stand his court martial. A pardon should be used in cases of questionable convictions, unduly harsh punishments, extenuating circumstances, or (although I disagree with this one) situations where a person has demonstrated a complete change of character. I’ll admit that I don’t know much about this case, but even still Trump should at least let the military judicial process run its course before extending a pardon, and even then it should be justified. Doing it before the court martial has even been concluded just basically says “I don’t care what he did and I don’t care about the military justice system.”

Can you list each name and what they specifically said...perhaps under oath...or are you just making stuff up?

If the allegations are true — he’s a scum trash sack of shite that I wish my tax dollars never ever paid for his deployment.

That being said — war is harsh and complex. I’ll never comprehend having to live with seeing your brothers be murdered. I imagine that can drive a good man insane and drive a good man to do horrible things. There I have sympathy....
