They wore them against the Russians because the covid tests for the Russian team hadn't been processed by game time. The tests were processed by the start of the final period. Russian team removed theirs. Canadian team kept their on.

The CDC guidelines on proper mask protocol say specifically that masks are not to get wet or it will eliminate any benefits of wearing a mask, but I am sure they did not sweat or anything.
