Does McCarthy become Speaker or will Scalise move up keeping McCarthy as the Leader. As the Speaker is 2nd in line of succession

My vote would be for Jim Jordan as Speaker. McCarthy can stay as party leader, and Scalise can stay as whip. Also, Elise Stefanik needs a leadership role.

There would have to be a vote. Likely McCarthy would be the next Speaker but like others, I would like to see Jim Jordan calling the shots.

Trump will back McCarthy for Speaker. Those two have developed a very close relationship over the years as he is way more MAGA than Paul Ryan could ever bear to be and McCarthy can still have more than enough moderate votes to win the Speaker's job.
But Scalise will be a fine substitute if McCarthy somehow falls through.

McCarthy is swamp. The fact that any republican from California is anywhere near a leadership position in the party should tell you a lot. He was the chosen swamp rat to succeed Boehner and Ryan.

Whoever becomes leadership needs to make sure Nadler, Schiff, Fartswell get locked into a room and get the ever living sheet beat out of them for how this impeachment was conducted.
