Iceland just made it illegal to pay men more than women
LINK

quote:

Iceland is the first country to make it illegal to pay men more than women.

Equal pay policies is now mandatory for companies with 25 or more employees. Those that cannot show that they provide equal pay will be subject to fines.

The law, which was passed last year, went into effect on Jan. 1.

Iceland is already a leader in gender parity. The World Economic Forum (WEF) ranked Iceland as the top country for gender quality for the last nine years based on criteria involving economics, education, health, and politics.

For example, Icelandic women make up 48% of the country’s parliament—without a quota system. And starting over a decade ago, Iceland made great strides to close the wage gap.

Despite this, wage inequality has persisted. In 2016, thousands of women in Iceland left work at 2:38 p.m., to protest pay disparity. The time was symbolic of when woman stop receiving pay during their 9 to 5 work day compared to men. The wage gap in Iceland was 72 cents to every man’s dollar, according to the Atlantic. On International Women’s Day in 2017, the country moved to change that.

The tiny country, pop. 323,000, aims to completely eliminate the wage gap by 2020, according to Al Jazeera.

And the most famous communist in Congress gives it his seal of approval.

quote:

On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) praised Iceland for it pay equity legislation.

“We must follow the example of our brothers and sisters in Iceland and demand equal pay for equal work now, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality or nationality,” he wrote on Facebook.

The wage gap has been repeatedly proven to be a lie. Anyone that thinks it still exists does not understand simple mathematics.

The article does not go into detail, though. Is this only for people in the same position? Does seniority & experience mean nothing now? There are multiple reasons for people even in similar positions to get different pay. This law seems to take away the ability of a company to reward its best employees with higher pay. Just show up & do the minimal amount of work to not get fired & you can make as much as the guy who does better work & is a greater asset to the company. No reason to work hard anymore.

That sounds like a fricking nightmare for companies trying to comply with that. And I don't know how the government is going to enforce it.

Here is the ultimate mental masturbation.

What about women that used to be men?

What do they get paid in Iceland, their old male wage or their new female wage?

Do they get to select the gender that matches their preferred pay scale?

What if men were considering transitioning to women and now feel free to do so because they won't have to take pay cuts?

Men are injured and die in the workplace 10x more than women. Close that gap and then come talk to me.

This is what the socialists in countries like Denmark and others openly praise. They embrace a culture of mass equality and discourage working harder to separate yourself from the pack.

Can't imagine it would bother anyone if a man and woman who produce the same output/results would make equal money.

What bothers people is when you say women need only produce acceptably similar results..

These groups always clamor for equality, and then when they step on the playing field they want to move their goalposts, change only their rules, etc

Since women often take pay cuts in order to have more flexible hours or other special accommodations, this is going to hurt the women more than men.

I have to pay the single mom who has to leave at 2 every day to get her kids the same amount as the guy who stays until 8? Then I just won't be paying any single moms.

Equality and such. Yay.

Mediocrity pays...pays like really really poorly, but it pays!

Here at Iceland ACME we strive to be the middle of the pack. We work as little as possible to provide mediocre products and services that benefit the middle of the economic scale while providing modest outcomes for our meager clients and under achieving investors. So remember our motto:"Buy Iceland ACME, or don't, doesn't matter, nobody cares, we certainly don't."

Surely they will force women to take on just as many manual labor jobs as men as well, right? It's all about being fair and equal after all

So women have no need to apply themselves or work harder. If you're a woman no need to stay late we will pay you the same as men.

I guess it's time to take Iceland off the list of possible retirement countries....... What a joke! Aren't they the ones that went bankrupt and have women in nearly all elected official positions?

That, my friend, is called communism. And yes, it's what every liberal on this board wants. Full blown communism. They are just too stupid to realize that is what they scream at the sky for.

I challenge every man for this nonesense to do one RAS ( resupply at sea) and watch the completely one sided efforts by the men vs the women to get shite done. your tune will change immediately after, if not during.

re: Iceland just made it illegal to pay men more than women
Iceland only makes it because

1) They are a small country of 300,000 -- about like an average U.S. city. It's easier to get socialism to work in such a circumstance.

2) They are all Viking descendants -- like 99.9% white. They are literally one big happy inbred family. Again, socialism can "work" in such situations.

Just wait till the Muslim invasion hits them like it has the mainland.

another great example from my experience was when the seabees showed up at our FOB to build shiter stalls. all the girls drove heavy equipmemt while thenguys did the hauling , hammering and actual building. in the eveningd the guys did their own thing and the girls sat around complaining about how bad they had it and how lonely they were, before sneaking off to take their D of the day.

Yay, forcing a private business to pay their employees what the government thinks is fair, all in the name of equality.

Of course Bernie loves it
