Honestly?

Better. MUCH BETTER. A totally different planet. Not close to this satanic sh*tshow. Nor is it hyperbole.

So yes, the Carter Years were LIGHT YEARS BETTER than now. (Don't believe a dayum revisionist word from so-called "Historians" or the TV Channel/Show "Decades".

Why?

FREEDOM. FREEDOM. FREEDOM.

Still in play within the Realm:

- SANITY
- LOGIC
- COMMON SENSE
- SHARED SOCIETAL UNDERSTANDING & RESPECT of and for MORALITY STANDARDS & VIRTUES

Also FULLY IN PLAY during the Carter Years:

Societal Standards shared by a vast majority:

- GOODNESS
- HUMOR
- HOPE
- RESPITE
- NORMALCY
- TRUST
- POLITE DISCUSSIONS (yes, even by between opposing sides)
- JUSTICE (relatively speaking)
- REAL & ACTUAL GOVERNMENT COMPASSION (not mythical -- to a moderate degree it actual existed)

**SENSE OF HUMOR was especially Light Years better and more uniform. There was .001% triggering factors and suspects.

**WATCH older Johnny Carson Shows on the Antenna TV channel from the era to get a good idea and vibe of just how sincere and spontaneously in-sync most people actually were during the era.

At this juncture there are 'things' worse with the Biden administration.

Had to be better then based on the fact that it was universally accepted that people with dicks couldn't have babies.

.

Exactly. Was going to bring those up, thanks for doing so.

Carter in 1978 PERSONALLY put together the leaders of Israel and Egypt at Camp David, and with both leaders worked out a peace process that was later ratified, the first peace treaty between Israel and an arab government, one that still lasts to this day.

Biden could NEVER do that.

It was worse under Carter, but Biden is quickly catching up. Carter had lines at the pumps, 20% interest rates on lending, because of his inaction in the American hostage situation in Iran we were the laughing stock on the international scene.

Technically we have that dude Britney Griner jailed in Russia, but then again he hates America and is probably enjoying his vacation in the Russian gulags.

This is really the best way to frame it. Economically, things were considerably worse under Carter. People were legit struggling in ways that folks aren't going through right now. Not to mention American international standing was full on in the shitter.

A whole lotta recency bias in this thread.

I remember it well. 14% interest rates were considered good. Carter was a good guy who made bad decisions and surrounded himself with idiots. Carter at least cared about the country but just couldn’t get out of his own way.

Brandon is a career corrupt politician with dementia who has surrounded himself with idiotic career corrupt politicians. His administration only cares about its own personal prosperity and wants socialism. No comparison.

Obama was a clean articulate puppet. Ron Klain is the president right now, although he's probably taking direction from the same powerful people who picked Obama. Klain is a professional DC bureaucrat who's never been in the real world and he probably doesn't give a shite what happens here.

People like Klain are why people like Pelosi are so pissed off. Pelosi is a crazy leftist but she craves power above any ideology, and she's afraid this abortion of an administration is going to cause her to lose it.

I've been alive through both and we are much worse off now because, unlike during the Volker years, the only tools left at the Fed are the board of governors
