I was polled yesterday, and I now see why there's a silent majority
The poll questions were mostly straightforward. Then they took an odd turn at a particular point in which the questions began to paint Cassidy as a bad person and follow up with do I still support him. I'm guessing this is internal polling for the local democrat party.

Anyway, that's not the point of my subject (just interesting).

When the poll began, the pollster read to me my full name and asked for confirmation it was accurate. She did the same thing at the conclusion of the poll as well. I still answered honestly regardless, but damn I am now completely understanding why people are lying to the pollsters! We are living in a world in which people are losing their jobs, being attacked on the streets and getting slandered publicly all for the simple support of their President. Then they are expected to answer honestly when their first and last names are being tracked with their answers?

I was a bit skeptical of this theory for the most part. While I believed some answered falsely to stay safe, I figured the number was exaggerated. Now I see it clearly, and I believe a significant number of people are doing it.

I’m to the point to where I hang up if I hear “we are doing a poll.”

I want to do them. I was enthusiastic in my answers supporting Trump, and the pollster was doing her best to hide her disdain for me. It was funny

I’m not going to discuss my politics with a rep from the leftist propaganda wing, and leave them with enough info to harass my employer. No.

I also don’t like to lie, so I won’t be participating in any polling.

Are you sure this was a pollster, or Jim Cornette calling to complain about Orange Cassidy?

I do that and either block the number or report to Nomorobo.

If you answer a poll as a conservative these days, you are asking to be doxxed, mid-quoted, targeted and fired from your job.

re: I was polled yesterday, and I now see why there's a silent majority
We had a kid wearing a Fox Nation hat show up at the front door last week wanting to know who we were supporting in the Presidential election. My wife was smart enough to answer "undecided" and he went on his way. Not a chance in hell does anyone who doesn't know me know who I'm pushing the button for in November (hint: he's currently POTUS), especially if they're standing at my front door and are under the age of 30.

Depends. Did they poll him about fricking his fat wife in exchange for a booking?

I had one call couple of months ago and I answered honestly. I did tell her none of your business when they asked income

This automatically get's you put in the 6 figure category. (I.E. rich people vote for Trump.) Best to tell them not enough but you manage to get by each month.

Why was the poll asking for your name - did you ask? Were they using voter records possibly?

Most legitimate polling does not aim to have personal identifiers so clearly tied in. They know this will skew results if people think their opinions will not be confidential.

Reading the subsequent comments below is sad, actually, because quality polling helps on issues far beyond politics.

Back in the day, it was harmless to do them... They were probably more accurate as well...

quote:

I was enthusiastic in my answers supporting Trump, and the pollster was doing her best to hide her disdain for me

She probably had a note pad, writing down your name, address, and phone number...

It was funny

Hopefully it will end there...

Polls can be used against the person you want elected. They poll an area and find out how a candidate is doing. They look at the numbers and see your guy is doing really well in your zip code. So now the opposition get to see the data an now can canvas your zip code and try to swing the vote. I know it won't work on you but I'am not so sure about your dumb arse neighbor. I have never taken a poll, never will. Rant over.

You got it. Particularly for election polls firms use voter registration data. And they usually confirm they have the correct person.

It was a little odd that confirmed again. Not sure of the point of that.

Regardless, everyone should try to take polls. Yes they are annoying, but it's a very important way to get your opinion heard. Taking a survey counts 10000000x more than posting on a message board in terms of having an actual effect.
