I think that 90% of all people are ignorant and/or stupid

Billions of people on this planet.

No matter the race, gender, religion, age, political affiliation or sexual preference, I think that 90% of all people are ignorant and/or stupid. So, we must all learn patience and kindness when dealing with the majority of humankind.

This is my personal and warped viewpoint.

I am posting this on a college football forum and I would imagine that a majority on here would be college level graduates of some kind. So, it may be easy to forget that most of the people of this world are struggling in many ways.

In my twisted view of the world, I would guess that 10% of the people have all three of the following traits:

#1-They are highly educated

#2-They keep up with current events and are knowledgeable about most topics

#3-They have common sense

Many people may possess trait #1. This would indicate that they are not stupid. Trait #2 would indicate that they are not ignorant. But, I would say it's very probable that a vast majority of the people do not possess both trait #1 and trait #2.

Then comes the trifecta. Trait #3. Having common sense.

In my unscientific opinion, if you possess all three traits, then this puts you in to the top 10% of the population.

That means that 90% of the people fit into some examples of what's described below:

The "The Condescending Idiot" This person has trait #1 oozing out of their body. They think they know it all, but are too ignorant of facts and details. They just don't realize how out of it they are.

The "Moron" This person has trait #2 and knows what is going on in the world, but is not educated enough to understand the complex issues or how things might really work.

Some of the people in the two groups mentioned above might have trait #3. (So- two of the three traits) This still is not ideal, but would make this person more tolerable to have a conversation with at a party. They actually might get it if you explain it to them well.

Now

What about the people that have NONE of these traits?

Unfortunately, in my opinion, these people make up a vast majority of the 90%.

I think these people like to get out to drive around on the freeways during the weekends. In the fast food drive-thru, I know they must be in that car in front of me. The famous website "People of Walmart" has tapped into these 90 percenters. A 90 percenter does not believe in "user error". No, it's always the product that is a piece of crap and not that they just don't know how to use it. And this is just in the United States.

Depending on what country you visit, the 10 percenters could experience an abundance of the 90 percenters and then their very existence in the sane world could be tested.

I believe that I am part of the 10%. (But, most likely I am just a condescending idiot that is too dumb to realize I only have trait #1?) But, a person can dream!



Anyway. As a potential 10 percenter it seems to be easy to forget that not everyone is in this group and the person that you are experiencing in line at the bank is probably just another 90 percenter. It does not matter that most of the 90% seem to be employed at the Comcast Customer Service Call Center. Be kind!

I think it would help a lot of us with our stress level to just remember the following. Most of the people you interact with are going to be in the 90%. (Duh! Right?) So, don't get frustrated with them. Just relax and treat them nicely. They really can't help it. Because, let's face it. Anyone can get #1 and #2. But, if you don't have #3 you will always be a dumb arse. (Or a t-sip)
