I think a lot of the problems in this country can be traced to our public school systems

Specifically in the way we teach social studies. Schools could care less if kids actually learn anything in these classes. All the focus is on the standardized test subjects and they usually just stick someone in that class to have a body in there. Think about how many coaches teach civics or history? It’s a damn running joke across America that your history teacher was also a coach. If we actually took these subjects seriously maybe we wouldn’t have so many people today wanting to turn our country into a communist hell hole or people who don’t understand the basic principles of law and government in this country.

Eta: I’m a coach who also teaches social studies so I know this is a bit hypocritical but I know a lot of my colleagues who don’t have a genuine care to teach the subject it’s just the easiest class to to “teach” while also coaching. Let me say I have nothing against coaches who actually teach. My issue is with anyone I’m the school system who is only in the classroom for the paycheck or because they have to be until they can run to the field house

I like the idea of coaches teaching social studies.

Well, I agree with your title, but I think the problem goes past teaching issues with social studies curriculum.

Inner city schools are a joke.

They keep screaming for more money to solve the problem but the results keep getting worse.

I don’t think it is that they don’t understand, its that they have no respect for those basic principles of law and government. That starts at home.

Problems with education are multiple when it comes to improving the schools with a huge problem being that of the parents.

That being said, yes the problems in the school are perhaps even caused by what is taught in the school.

Kids are being indoctrinated with leftists beliefs from kindergarten through graduate school.

In some social studies program, they teach kids how to protest and about the various causes.

Cleaning the politics and liberal thoughts out of school would be awesome if it could be done.

A big problem with schools is the rampant lawsuits that prevent schools from educating students at their capability level and by removing discipline from the campus. In deciding these lawsuits, courts have given schools many responsibilities that should fall to parents with no ability to keep parents and students accountable.

They need to get core in the morning and have them do their homework in school in the afternoon even if it means keeping them till 5. If the parent doesn’t make do their homework then we have to, especially if you can’t leave one behind. Afternoon extracurriculars are for A and B students only.

And get the progfilth out of our schools. Pay teachers enough so that more real men will go into teaching and not all these girly men.

Can have billion dollar schools, it won’t matter. The problem is far and wide shitty, uncaring, and in many times completely absent parents. School is the foundation, parents or guardians need to build upon that.

I’ve seen coaches teach great classes and social studies experts who were no experts.

The problem is the teachers unions and the low expectations placed upon teachers. The unions support the incompetent and the incompetent slavishly support the liberal union line for self survival.

Of all the college graduates I know, certified teachers are the least knowledgeable. There are some brilliant exceptions, but they are unfortunately few and far between.

How about a viscous cycle of adults living on government handouts. Or shitty rap music that glorifies the drug culture? Or lack of at home parenting and instead relying on the public school system.

How do you propose addressing that problem? Tell the kids they are shite out of luck because their parents screwed up.

You stop paying incentives, for having single parent homes and extra incentives for each child that a single Mother has.
