I sadly agree that’s a high probability based on his flinch response as he attempted to get back on his rifle after the assassin shot and obviously dropped his barrel down.

I 100% believe neither of these Secret Service snipers got a kill shot off on the assassin…just no probability based on their reactions in the video and also likely like you said if they did get a shot off, it didn’t go where it should have.

I pray Lord have mercy on them.

Agreed, I don't know if either sniper got a single shot off. Kneeler definitely flinches and pulls his whole rig in the process.

Would be interesting to know where the actual return fire came from that knocked the shooter. Maybe these 2 recover off camera and get him, but on camera I don't think they actually fire.

No way in heck can you make a head shot from over a 100 yards away juking and jiving.

1. We don't know the first hit was a headshot. We don't know how many times the shooter was shot. Headshot could've came later

2. Hitting something the size of a human at a 100 yards with any equipment, let alone what the secret service would have, is not at all difficult

But they weren't SS right? I think Bongino said countersniper teams are contracted

Shouldn’t that building have been covered? I mean if the SS wasn’t going to secure it with manpower physically then a sniper should have been deployed to put that building on over watch? That was the one building that was the biggest threat. It is incomprehensible to think that SS and local LEO let such a dangerous position go
Ummm......you can have zero knowledge of sniper overwatch security, and get a damn good idea of how it supposed to work just by watching "American Sniper".

Now throw in the fact that the SS team goes to the location a good week ahead of an event, to assess the location, assess and plan for weak spots in security.

This was an inside job.

If you look at the diagrams that snipers return fire would be in a direct path over that set of bleachers towards the target. His barrel clearly drops as he flinches… there is a video of a doctor who attempted to render aid to the victim. He points out the location of the shot on the victims head. I need to find it to rewatch but if he says he was hit in the back on the head left side, that shot can from the SS sniper 100 percent.

Welcome. He agrees with everything you stated. Neither sniper took a shot. He was asked " What’s that second guy doing?"

His response:

Protected his dome from catching one, rather than staying on scope.

I've watched the video several times and never thought either of the two got a round off. The one kneeling looked incompetent at best, dude completely pulls off the scope while shots are being taken.

The video of the bystanders shouting to the authorities about the guy on the roof makes me think there was another sniper or law enforcement within their shouting distance that was elevated. Yeah there’s way too much movement and ducking from the counter snipers to get an effective shot I guess.

It almost has to be. It’s hard to believe that the SS would be this incompetent and the shooter so lucky.

The fact that civilians were taking pictures of this guy before he was engaged by SS snipers is absolutely mind-blowing.

I am retired and out of the game now, so things may have changed due to SS staffing issues across the board, however, in my experience uniformed SS officers handled sniper duties unless it was the active President, then primary was CAT Special Agents / Uniformed Officers supplemented by UO snipers and then State/Locals filling in outer rings.

One thing I’ve learned in my years of shooting is that anyone who calls themselves a swat sniper loves to talk about how badass they are. I’ve shot with some before…..,,i was never impressed.

I’ve shot with guys that were military…..they were the real deal…..and never talked about it.

ETA, not saying swat guys suck, sating people that act like badasses rarely are. Even guys that brag about shooting deer in the eye.

How would the shooter know to go up on a building that should have been 100% secured unless they had inside information?
