Covid cases are spiking while flu cases are at historic lows hmmmmmmm. Could it be flu cases being called covid cases in an effort to make it look worse for the election (scratching chin emogi) my latest conspiracy about spicing the numbers for effect.

I am republican and sick of this shite as much as anyone. But the precautionary measures (masks and social distancing) taken against covid are probably keeping flu numbers down as well.

Covid cannibalized the flu. Who would have guessed. Wait till we compare overall deaths rates for 2020 vs years previous and its about the same.

Masks OR social distancing at most.

The virus is gonna virus. Herd immunity. Protect the vulnerable and let's roll.

ETA: and mathematically any flattening of the curve does not reduce the number under the curve. It simply slows the rate at which we get to that number.

Considering that folks dying in car crashes were due to "covid" then I can assure you they are messing with the numbers when it comes to colds/flu.

Masks did nothing for the flu for many decades and now they magically stop viruses? Are people really this retarded?

Flu and Covid present the same. Very likely flu is being counted as Covid.

Recently published in sometimes questionable journal The Lancet.

quote:

During the 2009 pandemic of an emerging influenza A virus (IAV; H1N1pdm09), data from several European countries indicated that the spread of the virus might have been interrupted by the annual autumn rhinovirus epidemic.

quote:

These findings show that one respiratory virus can block infection with another through stimulation of antiviral defences in the airway mucosa, supporting the idea that interference from rhinovirus disrupted the 2009 IAV pandemic in Europe. These results indicate that viral interference can potentially affect the course of an epidemic, and this possibility should be considered when designing interventions for seasonal influenza epidemics and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Our natural defenses have been raised because of SARS 2.0.

Hmmm, if you die from Covid the hospital gets $8K. If you die from the flu they get $8. Hmmm.

masks
A good bit of studies showing that masks are ineffective at reducing the spread of Covid are actually extrapolations of original papers showing that masks are ineffective at stopping the spread of the Flu. So, it's probably not that.

Flu surveillance across the world has dropped year over year by 98% since April. 98%!!

Clearly flu cases have been lumped into Covid cases for months and will continue to do so during this flu season. The CDC has conveniently chosen to suspend data collection of flu cases this flu season.

Could it be that there is no Covid here and we have tests that just turn positive for any coronavirus you run through them? Call me cynical, but I don't think we are being told the truth. Certainly, epidemiology has shown that there is much more for them to learn.

Maybe not...I don’t wear a mask...Never... except at a funeral once...Here is a chart showing percent of people getting the Vid at 3.9% if they never wear a mask...vs 70.6% that always wear a mask...So I got that going for me... LINK
