I know we all hate the idea of the wealth tax and taxes in general

But I do have a smug sense of enjoyment of liberal billionaires magically opposed to the tax. Usually when “the rich” have to pay more taxes, it just hurts everyone trying to become rich, not the already rich (obviously since it is income based). I don’t support the wealth tax, but I do get a chuckle at the billionaires suddenly opposed to a tax— because it is finally a tax that affects them.

They brought this upon themselves by falsely claiming they would happily pay more in taxes when what they really meant is they'd happily support raising income taxes because that's barely a dent to them and they get their income taxes reduced to almost nothing (comparatively) through deductions and losses anyway.
How long did they think it would take before their liberal "allies" noticed they weren't actually paying much more in taxes at all?

Taxation without consent is theft.
Even if you may not like the victim.

nah.
you are looking for the word representation.
Your consent is to accept the congress' tax plan.

It'll trickle down a lot faster when it's not in the governments hands. It's the same freaking thing moron.

For his next trick he'll try to convince us that the more wealth the "rich" have, the less there is for us peons to have.
Because there's only X amount of wealth to be had you know.

Yep, my employment is directly related to the mega wealthy as a corporate pilot. Raise their taxes to the level Warren is talking about and you’ll see a ton of jobs go away. They might be able to take more money from them but in the process they’ll have increased the amount of unemployed and will actually lose tax receipts.

Compliance under the threat of violence is still theft. If you hand your wallet to a dude with a gun to your head, are you giving your consent?

The income tax was implemented over 100 years ago.
I wasn't even alive to be able to consent or be represented.
Try again.

Which taxes don’t the rich pay?

> rich people don't get taxed, keep the money, and buy another jet or yacht
> rich people do get taxed, the money goes to the government who redistributes it to the people, who use it to improve schools, roads, and public health services

It's their money. Not yours.

Who builds the jets and yachts? Who cleans and repairs them? Who flies and sails them? Rich people don't spend money in a vacuum.
Thanks to rich people putting money into a bank, the bank was able to lend me money to buy a house. What happens to the lending and credit markets once a wealth tax is implemented?

what a fricking moron if you genuinely think this will happen
Posted on 11/15/19 at 10:26 am to CubsFanBudMan
