I early voted yesterday, and changed my mind on governor's race while in line.

I literally changed my mind on the governor's race while standing in line to vote. My 19 y/o son was with me, and he cast his first vote ever.

In the end, I voted for Rispone for one reason. He is the only candidate (and the first in memory) to explicitly say that he will call a constitutional convention.

No other reason. His ads are generally stupid. But we need a ground-up rewrite. Keep the lobbyists out of the building.

Can we hire the Texas legislature to write it? That’s about the only way it would seem like a good idea to me.

I mentioned the convention to my dad bc I like the idea. He said “yeah, in theory, but I’ve been around a long time and they have a tendency to screw it up worse than it is”

So don’t get too excited.

A constitutional convention with todays political climate and with the current mainstream media controlling the narrative it would be disastrous.

You may have just talked me away from Rispone.

Not sure why I was thinking we were talking about the US constitution but see we are talking about the state constitution. In that case carry on

We need to go back to strict interpretation of the US Constitution but what we have is a great document.

That’s objectively incorrect. The constitution of 1974 was written by law professors and scholars with bipartisan efforts. There was some tweaking in debate and consideration but overall it was a solid effort.

It’s just been amended to the point where it is 100 pages long. It’s a mess.

The problem with a constitutional convention is, in part, what would it look like afterwards? It might be almost as long.

While I absolutely detest your views on nearly every single subject discussed on here, this isn't one of them.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have up-voted T-Boy! Consider this Christmas day on the Western Front, 1914.

As long as JBE doesnt win 50% it doesn’t matter who you voted for.
