I don’t own a gun bc I am a Horrible shot. I think It’s responsible to have more skills and knowledge before I would ever have one in my house - lest someone break in, and use my own gun against me.

That said. I’m going to join the NRA.

After a solid week of a Democrat sheriff publicly shaming millions of Americans for the exercise of a constitutional right - and assuming that their female spokesperson should instead let herself be a victim because she should rely on him to save her . . .

That sheriff left 17 people to die and failed at his most essential duty. He was too lazy to follow up on timely and relevant complaints, and when the time came he supervised a force too Chicken shite to intervene.

What an utter piece of shite. And a disgrace to law enforcement.

At least the NRA Stands for something. They want our lives and our rights protected. They have not flinched under unyielding pressure. That’s the kind of organization I can get behind.

Do not join the NRA. They repeatedly lay down and do not fight for our rights.

Join Gun Owners of America instead. They have a backbone

Ha! I’m a chick though.

Once an NOPD Officer told me that yes, I
Should buy a gun to protect myself - but only if I felt comfortable enough to know I could use it correctly and hit what I was shooting at. Or else, someone could use it against me, or steal it, and use it in another crime.

I always thought that was sage advice. Now. I’m just gonna get educated.

Get yourself a nice 20 ga pump.

You don't need to be a great shot.

Why does everyone feel the need to join the NRA? It almost sounds like a requirement if you own a gun.

I'm too much of a non-conformist.

Great post my brother. But be aware when they come for our guns you will need to kmow someone whom owns Guns and whom has them for right reason. I am one of those lawful gun owners whom is very much prepared to fight for the right of self protection. Nothing more, nothing less, and certainly no threat to other law abiding gun owners or none gun owners. Just simply not ready to succeed protection of my family to the likes of the sheriff’s you just pointed out

There are a few firearm instructors in the outdoor board. I'm sure one of them can help you get started should you choose to purchase and learn how to use a gun.

As long as you are willing to use it you are fine and it will protect you in a time of need. introduce it the situation and don’t use it and now there is a gun involved.

About 6-7 years ago I was a couple hundred yards away from a girl who drew a gun on an assailant but wouldn’t pull the trigger. In the wrestling match that ensued a guy with her was shot and killed with her own weapon before another guy shot and killed the attacker. This was on a military base

Go to a dealer, talk to someone knowledgeable about what your needs are and find a handgun that you are comfortable with.

Take it to the range and/or sign up for some instruction.

If you are that concerned about the gun being used on you, keep the handgun hidden in one place and your mags and ammo hidden in a separate place.

Once you feel you are ready, you can keep them together for protection.

You are not going to magically become a good shot. It’s just like anything else: You have to practice.

Training can cure that and if you are receptive and capable of learning you can become effective with any weapon.
