I am on the Nielson TV survey this week and I can wipe out most of your NFL boycotts

Maybe all of them? If I decide to watch NFL games it will actually count towards the ratings. Might watch ESPN too.

My household was a Nielsen family for 2 years that ended in 2014 or so. The monitoring is done by a set-top box similar to a cable box. They no longer use surveys like you mentioned. Nielsen does a ton of research to identify households that fit their demographic needs and they lock you in for a 2 year period. They do not send out one off surveys as far as I know.

If you're willing to do it, it means you were probably going to do it anyway. If you want to waste your time, go ahead. The lack of people in the stadiums will tell another story.
