I am amazed at how much money I save by buying off brand items

Went to the store today and did a little experiment.
About once a month I load up on Toiletries like Deoderant, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc etc etc
I decided to calculate prices for all items in my phone I usually purchase (all well known name brand items that I have been buying for years)
The price was $39.79
I then found the exact same products under a different name (by looking at Active Ingredients) - You would be amazed at how many of the exact same items are on the shelf in different branding/labeling (Honestly, I think it should be illegal for companies to be able to do this but whatever)
The price was $24.49
So I basically bought the exact same things (just named differently) and I saved $15.30 - that's a case of Bud Light for a lot of guys on this site!
Now, I know for all of the ballers on TD that saving $15.30 is laugable, but if I keep doing this for everytime I shop, I could see that racking up with a huge amount of savings each year.
By the way, this little experiment took about an extra 4-5 minutes so there's no need to lecture me about how you don't have time to do shite like this.
Obviously, there are many items I simply won't replace for off brand items like my Midol, Tampons, etc but a lot of the stuff I have been using for years are the exact same shite just under a different name.
This is only a simple friendly public service anouncement for all the baws on here who are looking at ways to save a few bucks. I know there aren't many of you on TD because y'all print money, but for the less fortunate, I hope it helps out a little with your finances.

Get your stuff like everyone else.

More than likely they are produced on the exact same manufacturing line, all they do is change the packaging they load Into the assembler.

Speaking of shopping...isn't it about time for Walmart and similar places to go back to 24hr operations?

Two points here.
1. there are not 100 manufacturers of most items. maybe 5-10. these core manufacturers make everyone's stuff. I worked for a major manufacturer and at one time we produced 40 different labels of the same thing as our own brand. we just made more profit on our brand.
2. In toiletries and health items there is a short list of FDA approved ingredients and there are no patents in force on any of them. You see a hundred labels of shampoo and they are mostly all the same shite. Same thing goes for anything else you put in or on your body.

Off brand/store brand stuff is usually as good as the name brand stuff. Not just toiletries but food too.
And the few differences there are are easy to overcome when it's your money you're spending/saving.
Somewhat related... There are 3 Walmart supercenters in town. I despise Walmart but occasionally have to shop there.. I noticed that the Walmart that's next to the apartment complexes that cater to people on government assistance have different product placement policies. They display name brand goods more prominently than their Great Value brand. And they actually carry a smaller variety of Great Value products than the other two stores do.
People on government assistance don't mind paying more, it's not their money.

I care because I have a big heart and I like to help people.
Because of the current situation from our Political leaders with inflation, expensive housing, food costs, gas prices, etc.... people are struggling right now trying to make ends meet. I thought my experiment might help people who are wanting to find ways to make a little extra cash without having to get a 2nd or 3rd job.
You know, people like you who are thinking about driving an uber for a side hustle to make a little extra cash. I mean you did ask people on TD about wanting to drive for uber right? - You'd save more money doing what I just did then putting wear and tear on your little car driving a bunch of strangers around town all night.

Just don't buy Great Value dishwasher liquid. It's straight arse compared to Cascade.

Good lord. What a pathetic waste of looking at my post history and that is the best you could come up with?
Btw, I did sign up and drive a few weekends with Uber. Made $925 the second week of Jazzfest. Going on a nice charter fishing trip with that extra money.
I’m done with that gig though. I will now start setting my air in the house at 81 degrees and telling people how much money I’m saving.

I don't mess around with shampoo.. I don't need anymore hair to fall out. I used to get the Great Value diet drink mix but that price went up and the crystal light is close and it taste stronger. I get the GV honey roasted peanuts.. A lot better than Planters.. GV corn chips honey BBQ are as good and a lot cheaper than Fritos.
When first started buying Equate Nasal Spray it was $1.88 about 4 years ago.. It went to $2.20 about 2 years ago.. I just checked and it is $3.44 now... Crap that's a 45% hike in 2 years.

I know they do. My parents are on a fixed income and the past three years have been rough on people like them.
I’m just messing with the OP because he’s a douchbag on all boards

Guy balls out on Uber but let’s his parents suffer. That’s our future.
