Thank y’all. I’ve been here since I was 16. This is just an appreciation post. If anyone wants to give some encouraging words that’d be great but I know our nation is going to shite. I’ll always defend myself and my future family from this authoritarian shite but damn if it doesn’t look bleak. If Chicken ever folds or gets folded it will be a dark day for me. I know it will happen before I’m 30

Buy guns and ammo. Lots of ammo.

Happy to see a young person engaged in politics that isn't a loony from the left.

Millennials are the worst. Our Libs are worse than their farthest left but most of us cringe at the Harry Potter-loving, privileged, whining Millennial libtards. We’ve grown up nihilistic from the beginning, unlike those asshats, and just want to be left alone. Millennials adopted nihilism out of rebellion. We did it out of common sense. One way or the other, Gen Z is going to end the status quo. I hope it’s a return to freedom.

ETA: I do like Harry Potter, but I won’t ever make being a Hufflepuff a personality trait

2nd ETA: We’re the most diverse generation ever. A lot of us are tired of being accused of being racist by people who had one black kid in their class.

this gives me hope

when people get "tired", they act.

in AA, you hear daily "i was sick and tired of being sick amd tired"

those people (generally speaking) turn their life around for the better

it is time for those that are sick and tired of what this country is becoming to turn it around

I hate to say it- but thay will never happen until voting in this country is legit. so legitimizing voting is step one, imo

OT: I was playing a drinking game the other night and an acronym challenge came up. I won with PIIHB because of this site.

One thing I've noticed in the workplace is how younger millenials need to be walked through everything. Quite the contrast from older millenials where we could pick last year's documentation and figure it out on our own or at least narrow down our questions. I've seen this trend continue with interns and new hires, who at this point are, I guess, Gen Z.

Maybe your politics are better. Maybe they are not. Either way, could do without the need for the over-the-top hand holding on the job.

You may be describing "lack of independence". I notice that myself.

I’d say we’re screwed by Gen X on that one. I’m not one to blame older generations for not teaching but we really are screwed in terms of knowing how the workforce works. We live in an age of IPhones and taking for granted the technology we posses or the work that went into it. We don’t really see that hard work and new ideas went into creating the privileges we have. We just kind of view it as part of our lives. I will say I’m one of the fast learners though

ETA: I think our generation is too anxious about fricking shite up to ever be “resourceful” in the work force. Not many of us realize that improvising (even with some mistakes) is the key to moving to the next step in the ladder and proving we can be useful.

Just make sure you don’t rely only on this place for your news

It’s an echo chamber which is half full of propaganda which usually goes unchecked and treated as gospel.

And don’t do anything to ruin your life. You’re young, your beliefs on some things will shift over time, don’t make a stupid mistake like invading the capitol (I know that won’t happen again but I mean LIKE that) and ruin your future

I'll give y'all credit for being efficiency-minded and quick to embrace tech. Just strive for independence. You're not going to get there immediately but the effort will be noticed. You'll have questions. Gather those and then seek help. You should get a broad overview to start, but go in with the expectation that you need to be walked through every detail.

Also, patience. Younger millenials/Zers with Boomers is a powder keg. Rapid embrace of new tech/methods vs "this is how we've always done it." Yall just need to meet in the middle. To be fair, everybody probably starts out impatient but the sooner you learn/accept that you'll need to find common ground, the more you'll be at peace.

By the way, none of this is directly pointed at you. Just the musings of an older millenial working through his busiest time of year. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. Keep that head up and best of luck in your future endeavors.

Do not ever forget that you are not alone. Right now they are picking us off one by one. When we collectively come together, we will not only be ok, we shall fix the issues that currently plague this country.

I mean, is there any news source that wouldn't be thought of in that exact same way? IMO the ideal approach is to seek out numerous sources, both "friendly" AND "unfriendly," then let one's instinct and intuition take over on the back end.

I was your age during the 2016 election. Posting here and the atmosphere with that time is something I’ll always remember. I was a Trump supporter from the very beginning and watching this board bitch at each other during the primaries and, for the most part, come together during the general election was crazy.

No one thought Trump could win, but he did. I’m glad you haven’t let the liberal propaganda take you like many of our peers, bro. Keep strong and stand by your beliefs. If you’re informed enough about conservatism, you will win every political debate because our beliefs are LOGICAL and not EMOTIONAL.
