As far as guard response (not directly his call, but he has a hand). I came with 13 other LA guardsmen, we left Tuesday. Our mission was movement control for out of state units. We were on ground and coordinating before the storm even hit.

I find it a little amusing that all this focus is on DeSantis' reaction and work, because he's a Republican.

But when Katrina was coming, and Louisiana Democrats did nothing, everything was Bush's fault. Much of the inaction by Democrats was to try and ensure Bush did not have a favorable opportunity to take any credit.

If the Federal Government has to become the main source of planning, rescue, and rebuilding, that is a State failure, not a Federal one. But LA Democrats received no blame.

Based on the lack of media coverage I’m going to give him an A+. We all know if he had failed they would have roasted him every night.

I remember when the last one hit Nola and people could find gas for days and all kinds of issues arose because of horrible leadership by dems.

A

Plus Florida's building codes and electrical grid are in much better shape than Alabama, Mississippi or Louisiana.

I rate DeSantis handling of a Hurricane hitting his state a 180 of how Whispering Joe handled the withdrawal of Afghanistan……one was a catastrophic failure with months of preparation and the other was careful preparation under constantly changing weather conditions over the span of 4-5 days

I don't want to give him a perfect grade because on some level he probably could have done better.....competent people always think they can do better. But his response has been incredibly competent and organized. So I'll go with A- .

Naturally Charlie Christ or Val Demings will give D or F. When people realize that you cannot force people to evacuate maybe they gain some sense of the limitations government has.

Actually, I think that your question is an attempt to sow doubt on potential DeSantis’ voters so screw you commie Lib.

Anyone who says less than A+ is way to vaccinated to take seriously.

He needs to keep control but if Biden comes there's nothing wrong with DeSantis trying to get federal help for the citizens that were affected. Times like this I'd hope we could put politics aside.

How long did Biden avoid calling him?

That should tell you everything you need to know about the state's response vs the federal response.

Everyone is giving DeSantis high marks, and deservedly so, yet most of y'all want him to STFU and frick off and stay on the sidelines in 2024.

It makes no sense.

The way that they framed dumbassed Dubya for Katrina won't work anymore.

I think Karl Rove loves the left's play on this to make DeSantis the hero cooking at the wafflehouse.

DeSantis is doing very well, it is his exact wheelhouse. I think the media staged a certain area of a direct hit to criticize DeSantis later. It is a waste of time.

It is the equivalent of Harris making a racist comment on black & brown rescued first.

DeSantis did his very best.
