Don't forget that Rove would have faked some CIA intelligence that Finland had nuclear weapons first.

Then I retract my earlier statement.

I also hope Hussein decides to put the missle defense system back on the table for our NATO allies in the region

A missile defense system would stop what? Destruction of the infrastructure from the air? Isn't that more of a U.S. strategy?

It would also show our willingness to back our allies.

Seems like pretty spot-on description of Putin.
It sure does.

It would help our relations with those countries and would be a sign to Russia that we are sincere in our intentions to aid our allies in the East. All of that might not amount to a hill of beans but foreign policy actions are generally a crap shoot.

Sure...it would generate more debt for the U.S. and it would pad the pockets of the ones making the missiles but I don't think it would help anything other than that.

Unless the U.S. and NATO are willing to put fight Russia and sacrifice lives on the ground in doing so, it's all useless. Russia doesn't BS. Just my opinion.

I believe they do just as any other country does. Putin does not want WWIII and so, I believe, if we show commitment to our allies in that region he will not strike in overt fashion. You could see proxy wars fought through the U.S. and Russia but that is likely it. I actually believe we helped to stoke the fire for the uprising in the Ukraine although you will never see that on the news.

Russia actually has a competent military. They aren't Iraq.

He will do whatever he thinks is in Russia's best interest.

I don't think Russia will fall for that again. It would hurt them economically just as it would the U.S.

You are probably right.
