"Mr. Putin would do well to not misunderestimate our response to this annexification of the Crimea. We will not sit idly by while our friends in the Ukraine are oppressified."

True because of Bush's emphasis on strategery.

It never would have happened because Bush would have pushed ahead on the missile defense system in Eastern Europe. Vlad would have been forced to focus time and resources on a counter-system, thus keeping him from turning his attention to Crimea.

Bush would have started a proxy war in Syria with direct military involvement.

Perhaps Putin saw the same thing when he looked into GWB's eyes and held his ground as a result.

Wonder what Vlad saw when he looked deeply into little barry's eyes.

Maybe because under Bush Russia's lapdog Ukrainian President wasn't run out of town by revolutionaries?

Putin/Russia was rejected by mainland Ukrainians & like a scorned lover he lashed back. He wants all his gifts back(Crimea) from the girl who rejected him.

I believe it would be handled in the same matter but with a bit more saber rattling. I also hope Hussein decides to put the missle defense system back on the table for our NATO allies in the region but I fear he will see it as a sign of weakness if he reverses himself.

Seems like pretty spot-on description of Putin.
