How News Becomes Fake: Jackson Edition

As many of you know, Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde Smith made a dumb remark this weekend. When trying to explain that she would always accept an invitation from a local politician, she said that she would "go to a public hanging and be on the front row."
This statement is on video and it was dumb. But Democrats going to pounce and try to steal another Senate seat.

Here is the lede from a story on the Jackson Marxist leaders holding a press conference tomorrow.
Councilman Aaron Banks, along with leaders of the religious and faith-based community, will be addressing the “distasteful comments of Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith concerning hangings, lynchings and the racial intimidation tactics toward African Americans in Mississippi,” on Tuesday, November 13, at 10:00 a.m. on the steps of City Hall.
Interesting, she didn't say anything about that, but lets look at the local news Facebook post on this story.
JUST IN: Ward 6 Councilman Aaron Banks will hold a press conference on Tuesday to "publicly denounce and ask for the immediate resignation of Senator Hyde-Smith for her intentional remarks toward hanging African Americans">
The media knows that most people are just going to skim, so outright lying is okay.

How is it "fake news" when they're including an actual quote from a person?

The fake part is there is no indication nor proof she aimed those remarks toward blacks. In fact, since she used the word “public” one can assume she was talking about state sanctioned execution hangings not lynchings which if my recollection serves were never “public” since they were extra-judicial.
Hence, fake news.

The woman was 100% talking about how her friend could get her to go to even something as horrible as a public hanging because they are such good friends.
I will say it would be dumb to say in Miss and she should have known better.

Is Aaron Banks not holding a press conference on Tuesday?
Did he not say those exact words?
Those are the only two things that the news organization is saying. What....exactly....is "fake news" about that post? Or did you just soil your pants and "Fake News" was the only thing your mind could muster?

Post like yours make me wonder if there is something wrong with progressives’ minds. The article clearly and blatantly lied about what was said and yet it’s like your mind can’t process the information in a logical manner. I use to joke that liberalism is a mental disease. But I’m starting to think there’s more truth to the notion than I realized.

There is a reason "lynching" is a term. Lynch mobs would lynch blacks. Not have public hangings.
