How much does the LACK of RESPECT & CIVILITY cause many of the police issues?

Seems something else that is not talked about is the breakdown in showing the basic Respect for Authority in our society.
I was taught to respect elders, women, teachers, and even the police.
You see the breakdown in these normal societal interactions everyday.
Kids out of control and fighting teachers.
People mouthing off to police.
If you “yes, sir” “no,sir” the crap out of people it diffuses a lot of tension.
I think a lot of what ails society today is the lack of basic respect for those that like it or not do have authority over us in certain situations and conditions.
So even If you are wrongly stopped and detained just, “yes sir: no/sir” and then let the process work itself out.

respect is first taught at home by mother and enforced by father.

When you give someone everything since birth, they don’t value anything including themselves and their community. Welfare has caused all of our problems as a society.

quote:sounds good in theory but let me challenge your sheep thinking. Police are supposed to be public servants and not lords you have to respect. Police should respect citizens as much or more they we should respect them. teachers somewhat the same. You've been brainwashed into a small box. some of it is true but you don't seem to get the full picture.

In every single case that makes national news- the victim would be alive today if they obeyed orders. Including George Floyd

I agree. Should also be taught / trained that officers address citizens with respect.

people don't want to talk about the fact that an encounter with leo is the effect. the cause is whatever reason they were called to that location in the first place. want to work on a resolution? start addressing the cause, not the effect.
oh, they were just patrolling your neighborhood and weren't called out? why are they patrolling your neighborhood? someone said it perfectly the other day, act like mayberry, you get andy griffith and barney fife
