A smart moderator would've followed up via statements with explain.

He said that someone said wearing masks would prevent 100k lives by January.

There are not going to be 100k lives by January so how can masks prevent that many deaths?

He then said that the head of the cdc said that masks are better than a vaccine. It's appears as though that moron actually did say that, but he later said he misspoke, because that is obviously moronic.
