I guess they think they're doing a good job, so they deserve a raise
medium income in the US is $61,000
NO elected official should make more than that, except POTUS and governors
let's start there, lower their damn pay, not raise it...

House Democrats are pushing for the first congressional pay raise in a decade, a politically fraught issue that may face populist opposition from lawmakers in both parties.
A $1 trillion spending package to provide cover for several departments and agencies, now making its way through Congress, would give House members and senators a $4,500 bump-up from their annual salaries of $174,000, Politico reported.

Of course they are.
a decade? so 2009 was the last raise
coincides when they last controlled anything in COngress
Their voters are such saps.

Awesome. Please make this an election issue.
frick you entitled pieces of shite.
Making 3 times the national average income and you want more.
I'll propose a compromise: you get your pay raise in exchange for term limits.

Absolutely fricking infuriating. Scumbags. Traitors.
Putting themselves before the country and the people the represent. Anyone who supports this should be removed from Office regardless of party.
Make this an issue and let’s see what happens in 2020 you fricking counts.

How about if they make 10% more than the average American in the district they represent?

They need to be put on a performance improvement plan with termination waiting in the shadows.

They want MORE money from the people they don't represent.

How many Americans get cost of living raises? The democrats can GFT! They don't even do their jobs!

I say they all get $61,000 a year then maybe they wouldn't make a career out of fricking up and doing nothing.
They could live off their slush funds.

I propose a tax on congressional income.
+1% tax for every week that we have a budget deficit.
They literally have one job.

Their pay should be indexed to Congressional job approval.

The joke of it all is they have already created a system that allows them to leave the job with millions in "other revenue" earned. This raise is inconsequential to them and simply a big frick you to taxpayers.
