Yo dawg I heard etc.

The chairman of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees announced on Tuesday a joint investigation into how the FBI handled last year's investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.

"Decisions made by the Department of Justice in 2016 have led to a host of outstanding questions that must be answered," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said in a joint statement.

The two Republican leaders said they have questions about the FBI's decision to openly declare the bureau's investigation into Clinton's handling of classified information, while quietly investigating Trump campaign associates.

They are also interested to know why the FBI decided to formally notify Congress of the probe on two separate occasions; why the FBI — rather than the Justice Department — recommended that Clinton not be charged after the investigation concluded; and the reasoning behind their timeline for announcing such decisions.
No way she wins the election now!

Republicans need to be careful and not get overzealous. This could blow up in their faces very easily.

I don't see it. This is a winning issue for Republicans.

How might it backfire?

Is anyone else getting sick of these investigations? Nothing - literally nothing -comes of them.

Move on to passing legislation that matters.

I think they tried this route but it has not been working.

Because these investigations never bear any real fruit. Let's also remember that when you get to HRC levels in government, you don't go to jail or even get prosecuted for stuff like this. If they go too hard in the paint on this, it'll be their version of the Russia investigation and they'll just look like they're trying to crush the competition for the sake of future elections. People get turned off by that kind of stuff, especially when it gets dragged on and results in little to nothing. It needs to be done quickly and as concisely as possible.

When Manafort gets the black rose I bet Benghazi will need a whole new investigation, top to bottom.
