I don’t know who Barbara Lagoa is. I’m sure she’s a good person. I assume you have to be in order to be on the Federalist Society. I just don’t like the idea of nominating her for SCOTUS just because she’s Hispanic.

It reminds me of the Dem debates when those idiots started speaking Spanish to suck up to the Hispanics and Latinos. I don’t like the idea of pandering or patronizing a group of people just to win their votes. I don’t think The President has to do this to win Florida or other states like Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. I think he’s gonna win Florida anyways before RBG died. Biden is polling bad with Latinos anyway.

How much more do you need from a candidate like ACB? Catholic mother of 7 kids, 2 adopted from Haiti. Strong pro lifer which is what conservatives want. I think someone needs to be advising The President that Lagoa isn’t gonna move the needle that much. If she gets appointed, some have said here she believes Roe v. Wade is precedent so she votes to remove it down, what’s everyone gonna say then?

If he nomimates Lagoa, I’m fine with it cause it’s his decision but I don’t want it to be cause of race to pander to a voting block. It’s something the Dems would do with that logic.

Got anything to back up this assumption?

But you’re ok with Barrett just because she’s Catholic or because she’s a woman.

This is a political decision. Nominate the Cuban American woman, and win Florida.

Easy, easy call.

Correct. And it’s why they bat 1.000 with their nominees to SCOTUS, unlike the GOP, who has half of their nominees fluctuate ideologically over time because they were chosen for their legal mind.

Imma be pissed if he doesn't.
I think she's the most qualified

But I think it might be Lagoa because it may get him some Hispanic votes.

The left must destroy her for this. Especially the 2 adopted kids from Haiti. They can't allow a truly good woman who is a conservative family lady on the Court.

If you don't want to piss off evangelicals you better pick a pro lifer. This Cuban gal is not pro life. I would be furious if Trump does this. Evangelicals want one thing.

Nominating a Rust Belt Catholic (I know she originally grew up in the South) and a Notre Dame grad might pay more political dividends than a South Florida Cuban.

MN, WI, MI and PA are all narrowly up for grabs. There are a lot of Pro-Life Catholics and Notre Dame fans in the Midwest. Trump grabbing a few points in all of those states is probably better energizing the Cuban base in south Florida.

That’s my point. If Lagoa is more qualified in The Presidents eyes, then go for it. Just don’t appoint for race purposes. As I said above, I think Trump is gonna win Florida, even before this seat opened up. I think he’s gonna win the whole thing regardless. That is of course if rampant voter fraud doesn’t occur. Main reason he’s appointing judge to stop 4-4 tie if election goes to SCOTUS.

It’s just my opinion ACB is a better choice when it comes to rulings.

Barrett is clearly qualified. She’s also pretty thoughtful.

The problem may be she is not a slam dunk on abortion. She will definitely restrict it. But she may not vote to overturn Roe.
