Homelessness in L.A. is a catastrophe in motion, and our leaders are largely to blame

*Reporting from my underground bunker. The guy who wrote this column for the LA Times, Steve Lopez, is a lib-on-steroids from way back. For him to admit that California's Leftist politicians are largely to blame for the homeless problem in Los Angeles is startling.

quote:

Some of them are flat broke, some are sick, some work, some have given up hope.

They are homeless in Los Angeles, where mega-mansions and shantytowns share the same ZIP code, and where the dark underbelly of a colossal social breakdown is on full display.

In L.A. city and county, you taxed yourselves to do something about it, and last year alone $619 million was poured into housing and services.

But statistics released Tuesday show that the number of homeless only grew — a 16% increase in the city and a 12% jump in the county — to a staggering total of nearly 60,000 people without homes.

It’s fair to wonder what happened, and how it’s possible to spend all that money only to see the misery multiply and extend deeper into the Westside and the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys.

Have you been ripped off?

I'm seriously waiting for a serious disease to run rampant. If the feces and garbage is as bad as they claim, then it's only a matter of time

YOUR LEADERS BELIEVE THAT their policies are helping the poor. They are too foolish to realize that their policies have contributed to the problem.
THEY HAVE NO CLUE how to help the poor.
Get new leaders. Get rid of these fools.

Has already started. Typhus and bubonic plague are hitting the homeless areas.

Dr Drew has been pushing this but gets called a racist fascist for it.

I thought that was Trump's fault.

I’ve spent time there, and you have something like a zombie apocalypse to look forward to.

There are more of them every day, and they’re bolder every day.

You can stop waiting. Right now in downtown L.A. we have Bubonic Plague, Typhus, Typhoid Fever, Hepatitis A, Tuberculosis, and Staph Infection.

The majority of homeless people live that way by choice. No amount of money or social programs will change that.

If you live in a city with mild weather and encourage public tolerance of it, you will quickly see your homeless population multiply out of control.

Make them comfortable in their chosen lifestyle, provide for them, feed them, support them, coddle them, clean up after them, and they will come to you in ever increasing numbers.

Hate to be a hard @$$, but the leaders ARE to blame for the ever increasing problem.

I was talking to a former co-worker at a wedding last night who grew up in L.A. He went out there last month to visit family and said the homeless problem was worse than he ever expected. He's a pretty liberal guy and he said he would never move back.

Friends, it ain’t just LA. I can drive around the KC metro and it’s shocking how many people are living in shanty camps along the MO river or under bridges and overpasses, hundreds if not thousands.

I'd be asking some MFers..WHERE'S THE MONEY? 619 Mill is a lot of money, and I don't see evidence that 6 dollars and 19 cents was spent down there.

They said units they build for homeless people cost up to 500k per unit.

Think about that number. A homeless unit costs up to 500k.

If I read that correctly. Perhaps I should go back and check.

But if that is true, you know sooner people are making serious money off of this problem.

As always follow the money. Demands a proper accounting. The crap they would find would stun there liberals out there.

Big government in action means big money for a few people.

You've got that right.

I laugh at leftist assholes who deny that democrats don't go down there and vote harvest given the general laxity of california's voter registration requirements and hinky allowances for handling of absentee ballots.

He still found a way to steer the blame toward Trump, told a string of lies about the economy and who the tax cuts benefited, and never really addressed the issue as it really is: decades of leftist policies dogpiling on top of each other have led to a bloated, unwieldy blob of a government and nothing can get done. The leaders that he likes because they say the things that make his fee-fees feel good, have made a once amazing state a hell hole. And he won't listen to alternatives from the people he hates because he'd rather spend time dismissing them as racist and ignorant. He pinpoints the issues, but doesn't seem to realize that conservatives run on platforms that would eliminate those very issues.
