As mentioned before, I work for the Florida Legislature and we just ended our 60 day session two weeks ago. During session, thousands of ppl travel up from all of Florida and add in the thousands of lobbyist and probably one thousand staff ( EOG, Cabinet and Legislative staff) ...it’s a Petri dish of communicable gunk being passed around.

I came home with a “wet cough” and congestion/ i never went to get tested because i assumed it was the Tallahassee crud - also i never had the fever (but i never checked it ) and didn’t have shortness of breath. Since being home, I have infected my family with everyone with at least the cough - two of my children have had a low grade fever for a few days.

Fast forward to Thursday, my wife was just feeling punky- we assumed it was the margaritas from Wednesday night but yesterday she was in bed pretty much the whole day- she has a tickle in the back of her throat that makes her cough a lot, she has a low grade fever, she has a tightness around her chest as she breathes, she gets lightheaded if she stands up....i contacted my friend in DoH to her tested - his first question was if she had Dr orders- then what her symptoms were- then suggested we get to an urgent care/ ER to get orders.

It was 9pm last night and we just didn’t want to wake up our children so we opted for the telehealth (basically FaceTime in their app )experience.

My wife spoke to the provider and gave her the story written above, and the provider said she was low risk because she hadn’t travelled (weird because we have seen community spread happening here) nor been in contact with someone who had the virus. Plus she is younger and relatively healthy....she says if the fever continues through till Sunday, she will revisit testing- also weird bc, by the time testing happens and diagnosis, she will be a full week with this two week virus and ...then we all will have to be on lockdown for two weeks even though we prolly already had it

So when you hear ppl say that testing is easy- do know, it’s pretty difficult getting one done and it’s probably this way by design due to the lack of tests

Lol Florida. You don’t need a travel contact to get a test anymore just about anywhere else

Or they need to keep the death % high to incite the panic and keep the lockdowns. Even though no pics, hope the wife feels better.

This is pretty inaccurate at this point. There were 150,000 tests conducted two days ago.

Hope you guys are okay.

I’m in Ocoee by the way.

The testing system can’t allow itself to get overwhelmed with negative tests because it will create a massive back log of tests making proper diagnosis and treatment of serious cases much more difficult.

At this point the test is irrelevant.

Monitor your symptoms. They are only taking people into the hospital that need to be put on Oxygen or on a ventilator. Otherwise, even with a positive test, the patient will be sent home to self-isolate and ride it out.

Go get a pulse oximeter (about $20) to monitor the blood/oxygen level. If it gets below a certain % - like 95% or something) then that is a clue that you need oxygen. That is the kind of info that will get you a bed at the hospital.

That's exactly what my stepson and his girlfriend's family that are in quarantine were told. If you're fever hits a certain point and breathing becomes labored, then come see us.

My wife and I very likely have it, but California won't test us either. Our symptoms are very different but she's been sick since Tuesday and I've been sick since Wednesday. Hell I'm active duty military and the MTF won't even test me. They screened me and told me I very likely had it, all I could do was go home and rest for 14 days

Tests are still in short supply, and not everyone is gonna get one.
