Heard from an aunt in Johannesburg, South Africa is a disaster

They are without power half the day, no usable water for days on end.

I wonder how this happened…

Did the Mayor of Jackson perform a coup there?

It was the fault of European colonization.

You really don’t want to see them. She is in baaaad shape. Old woman with no teeth. She is one of the only family members left who didn’t get out.

Seriously, why don't you conduct an interview? You can have it later for your kids or you can share it with everyone on a blog or maybe gets picked up by some media person. It sounds like a really interesting story unless you're bullshiteting us. I would really like to know how she is giving water if there is no water?

The western media goes to great lengths to make SA this modern, thriving multicultural metropolis. It’s a rotting shell. And it’s getting harder to hide the decay.

People don’t realize how hard it is for some people to leave the country. It’s not as simple as packing up your stuff and leaving. My mom had a friend visit and they interrogated her for hours at the Atlanta airport thinking she was trying to outstay her travel visa.

There’s plenty of poor white folks that can’t afford to move abroad. Such a beautiful country, shame that it’s turned that bad.

The trouble with all of those nice things like water, sewer and electric power is that they must be maintained by people with the knowledge and skills to do so.

Take those people out of the picture and those nice things fall apart leaving suffering.

Better to have never introduced those technologies so that the population would never had a taste of how good life could be.
If you don't know something exists, you will never miss it.

But if she had simply walked across the border and into Yuma, she'd have been handed a cell phone and tokens for free lawyering.

A poster here recommended this book. It's an excellent read on what happened in Zimbabwe/Rhodesia and what will ultimately happen in South Africa. The only question is what they will rename the country when they are done......

I have a friend here from a wealthy family there, moved most assets abroad.

He told me years ago they install these switches on the dash, where if they are approached with a carjacking they flip it and it is a flamethrower attached under the chasis of the car, burns the snot out of the legs of whoever has approached the doors of the car, they immediately move away from the car with all attention to their legs and you drive off without being shot.

Great book.

Interesting, but sad. Complete insanity.
