Have you ever seen a major election where one candidate refused to debate another?

Moore never would debate Jones. Why is that? If a Democrat refused to debate a Republican, this board would be going nuts calling them cowards and more. But, Moore refused to debate, is not even campaigning, won't do interviews with actual media in the state, and hopes to just ride this out to victory.

How is that okay?

Shelby wouldn't debate the dude that ran against him last year.

Would you debate your opponent when they and the media are complicit in defamation attacks that have been largely proven completely false? Moore has nothing to gain from debating right now.

Vitter dodged debates. It cost him the governor’s election just as much as his whore mongering past.

Shelby nor Session held a debate in their last Senate race.

Moore did debate Strange during the primary, and if you watched it you know why he won't debate Jones. He is clueless on actual real world issues.

There are a lot of issues that historically have gone into debate decisions at levels below the Presidency.

1. If you are ahead in the polls, don't debate. There is nothing to gain.

2. If you're not a speaker don't debate. If Presidential debates had occurred in the gap between Lincoln and JFK then Wm. Jennings Bryant would have won the presidency.

3. If the debate is moderated by the press then the GOP candidate is outnumbered in the debate. He is going against his opponent and the moderator.

He looks like a pansy coward to me. Come out and defend yourself like a man and take it to Jones and his 9 month pro-abortion stance and his other liberal policies. Instead, Moore hides and runs and shows up only in places where he is basically worshiped.

Moore won't "fight for Alabamians." He'll run and hide just like he's doing now. He's a fraud and he always has been one - way before these allegations.

Cowardly.

What's there to debate? Do you not already know how each candidate stands on the issues? Or, are you just wanting to make this a spectacle concerning Moore's allegations of molestation because that would be all the debate would be about?

They were also both sitting senators. Moore has only been a judge on a statewide level. I'd like to hear him talk about what he'd do in the legislative branch.

He probably doesn't know or is too scared to be questioned.

Cowardly.

In any major election where one side is far ahead, they will refuse because the downsides are far greater than any benefit of winning.

You don’t put the opponent on your level or risk a gaffe if you don’t have to.

How can you blame him with everything going on these days. My guess is they would give Jones the questions before hand so he could prepare. Sound familiar?

Now it's a melt to expect a candidate to actually show up and articulate his position and be questioned.

Pathetic.
