Has anyone heard the latest thing Gavin Newsom is banning in California?

Not only is he banning Kid Rock, but
No more fences around houses and no more plants allowed in your yards. If you have a fence around your house or business or have plants in your yards, you have 30 days to remove them or face a fine everyday that you do not have these items removed from your home or business.
California sounds delightful these days lol

When did the CA gov turn into a glorified HOA?

Are the plants due to fires? What about the trees?

While Governor Gavin Newsom has not issued a statewide ban on plants and fences, California is implementing new "Zone 0" defensible space regulations that will limit combustible materials, including many plants and fences, within five feet of homes in wildfire-prone areas.
Here is a breakdown of the new rules:
What is Zone 0? It is a five-foot perimeter immediately surrounding a house that must be kept clear of flammable items.
What is banned? The new rules will prohibit combustible materials within this zone, including grass, many shrubs and trees, mulch, and wooden fences that are attached to a home.
Where will this apply? The regulations will apply to properties within "Fire Hazard Severity Zones" as designated by CAL FIRE, the state's firefighting agency.
Who is affected? The rules will apply to new construction first, then extend to existing homes three years later.
Why is this happening? State officials and researchers say that flying embers are responsible for the vast majority of structures destroyed by wildfires. Clearing this perimeter is intended to create an "ember-resistant zone" to stop fires from spreading to homes.
Expedited under Newsom's order: The regulations are being expedited under an executive order signed by Governor Newsom to improve wildfire preparedness.

wildfire-prone areas.
How many of these areas would be “wildfire prone” if California practiced any reasonable forestry policy?

No way this is true.

The policy is called “Zone Zero Landscaping “, and it appears to be a real thing:
quote:
A regulatory effort to safeguard California homes from wildfires threatens to force some homeowners to remove trees and shrubs that sit close to structures, and is generating rage from residents who see it as actually endangering their homes. Zone Zero regulations have been in the works for years, but in the wake of the Eaton and Palisades Fires the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection was ordered to speed the process up. "Governor Newsom has asked to expedite these rules and have the process complete by the end of the year," said Tony Anderson, the forestry board's Executive Director. Zone Zero refers to the area closest to a home's perimeter, the space from zero to five feet away from the walls. The new regulations being considered would require that space to be "ember-resistant defensible zone"for all homes that sit within "very high fire hazard severity zones."

Everyone bitches when they do nothing for wildfire, and people are bitching when they do something.
Watch this video, particularly the second half, and tell me how living like that in fire country is a good idea. Beverly Hills and Bellaire will burn just as the Palisades burned.
I've said in multiple threads about that fire (and the Pasadena/Altadena fire), that the people of southern California are going to have to make some tough decisions about the way they live.

Basically everything below San Francisco Bay, as over half of California is semi arid and desert.

All of it. Population density in the most fire prone landscape on the planet is the main driver.

How can they make you not have a fence? Under what reasoning?
