Not really.
That’s what we know about. Cost of doing business in NOLA. I’d be more surprised to find out that she personally didn’t get at least that much under the table.

So you think that is why the hotel collapsed?

The three adjacent buildings are owned by partners of 1031 Canal Development, and Councilwoman Kristin Palmer, among others, has expressed concerns that the developers are trying to use the opportunity to demolish historic buildings, something that is normally difficult to get permits for, as a land grab. The demolitions would leave the developers with a larger plot of valuable downtown land to either redevelop or sell off.
Well, Cantrell changing the plan to take the building down 3 times certainly supports this claim. And it JUST so happens that they have made contributions to her in the past. Seems like a possibility but we will never know the truth.

Absolutely, how else did they get permits and inspectors to sign off on a building that was reported unstable by the friggin construction workers?

He had a zinger.
You are not supposed to have an actual factual rebuttal to a zinger.

This sounded smart to you when you were typing didn't it?
At which point in the construction process are permits signed off on? You are giving inspectors way to much credit.

It's a lot more than 70k
Run with it.

Uhh.. new constructions are inspected in every phase. From a building of this size right down to a personal residence in any jurisdiction that requires it.

This is how our system works, unfortunately. It shouldn't surprise anyone at this point. It is like this on every level in every country in the entire world, from the local level all the way up. and on the world stage, it is the entire reason that we give foreign aid: for influence.

Did I say new construction wasn’t inspected?

Lol whatever the case, you are definitely not smart no matter how you dice it
Hard Rock: Inspector general investigating collapse as part of Safety & Permits corruption probe
Posted on 1/29/20 at 9:29 am to hubertcumberdale
So you think this investigation will find that inspectors and/or the permit office knew that the hotel had potential issues and overlooked them because of a bribe?

Don’t be short sighted. There is video of the workers explaining how shitty the beams were spaced and such. Someone signed off on that. Will someone be held accountable? Maybe. Maybe not

of course someone signed off on it, and I will bet it wasn't anyone with the government.

the form deck used was more than capable of supporting spans (according to manufacturers specs) in hotel. However you do have to shore the form deck during construction. It does not look like the deck was shored.

Everytime someone on this board mentions campaign finance reform, people lose their minds saying it's unconstitutional, companies are people too, etc.
I'm sure these people donated money to Charbonnet, to everyone running in the council races, etc. That's how it works.
As long as you can legally buy influence, guess what, people will do that...
