He wasn't being easy on Huawei. I got the impression he wants to deal with stuff like on a case by case basis.

I don't like Ross but he didn't exaggerate the goals of the 301 tariffs and made a point to say the goals WAS NOT to hurt China or "win or lose" something.

I really don't know how so many people got the impression that the trade war is some substitute for war with an enemy and would result in a huge increase in jobs in the USA like most of critics here seem to think.

My entire argument has been the goals were not worth the punishment of Americans with tariffs. The goals if accomplished will benefit multinational US companies and the Chinese. I have also said that it is trade war that will not be easy to win and thus far that is true.

I do not support government interfering with the commerce of the people. If China or anyone else wants to tariff their people I do not care. If they want to subsidize industries and sell us stuff cheaper let them---somewhere along the line they have to make a profit. They are taking from something in their economy to subsidize any particular industry. There will ALWAYS be differences in economies that result in differences in the prices of resources between economies. We will never have evenly priced labor or evenly price capital world wide. We will never stop having currency manipulation--we manipulate ours all the time. Trump understands that too--he just whines about China to deflect criticism that his tariffs actually strengthen the dollar.
