IMO ... this clearly sets the precedent that ALL scholarships must enact eligibility for ALL students.
So ... it appears that the Wisconsin Libs have made it known ... NO MORE disqualifying requirements for any scholarship of any kind.
This is FANTASTIC news for white students, particularly white males.

For more than 20 years the Lake Mason Lions Club has been providing a $500 scholarship to young men and young women attending a trade school or community college. But not this year.
quote:
The Wisconsin Dell School District rejected the service organization’s scholarship over a requirement that the recipient be a citizen of the United States.
quote:
Wisconsin Dells High School Principal Hugh Gaston told NBC News that the scholarship requirement raised red flags because the requirement was not fair for all students.

Actually, the most disadvantaged group for scholarships are white females. As a statistical group they generally enter college with higher grades and scores, and more accomplishments than white males. That's the group that would most benefit from identity blind awards.

WI Dells isn't a particularly liberal area, either. Weird. They may have a lot of Hispanics and illegals because it's a service industry town but that county was MAGA last November.

Not true
White straight Christian males are the biggest target of persecution on the planet. More of us are murdered every day than any other group

Of course they got higher grades, even the somewhat ugly ones can get lonely nerd boys to help them with their work.

And then the 'nesting urge' hits when they turn 20. And it's "I don't want to be a doctor. I want to have a baby and knit booties!"
It's not society. It's hormones.

We aren't talking about Asians. We are talking about scholarships in the Wisconsin Dell School District. Are there a bunch of Asians up there or something? Or do you just want to complain about Tiger Mothers and their offspring outworking you?

Can they just apply that $500 as a downpayment on an eventual Fed subsidized abortion?

I don't know about all that, but in a private chat with my priest, he said that female alter servers universally stop serving when they hit 12 or 13, and none will continue to serve into high school. (Have you ever seen a high school aged female alter server?) Meanwhile male alter servers will typically serve into high school, or generally to the point that there are so many trained younger servers that they are no longer needed. That is a similar dynamic. Even then they won't hesitate to help out in a pinch or at midnight masses.

Well since they are the majority of college students and perform better, they obviously have privilege and deserve to be excluded from receiving any scholarships.

Wow, you are thick, huh?
Just think about it for a bit. Maybe it will dawn on you...

Lol, school districts don't have the power to set legal precedent.
Plus, there are tons of scholarships that are only available to US citizens. Whoever said it was against the law in that story was just pulling something out of their arse.
Presumably, the school district has control over what scholarships it does or does not hand out, and so can refuse this one of they choose. But there's nothing stopping the Lions Club from just selecting the recipient themselves and giving them the scholarship directly, thus cutting the school district out of the process entirely.

I had a similar conversation with Vannie Edwards, an Olympic gymnastics coach. I asked why girls are so much better at boys in the sport.
Him: They're not. It's numbers. At age 8 you get 100 girls in a program for every 8 boys.
When they hit puberty 90 percent of the girls drop out but only 1/2 of the boys. That leaves you with 10 girls and 4 boys. So more than twice as many girls are there for serious competition but the boys survived at a higher rate.
