Gonna push to make Juneteenth a national holiday.

Actually, I think it's a good idea if it helps him win. I'm sure it will tough for many diehard disciples to swallow, though.

It's truly weird that people care so much about NOT making that a holiday.

I'm not saying it 100% has to be a holiday or it's an outrage, just that why would anyone really care if it is indeed made a holiday, talk about a non-story.

If you are a business owner it is another day you (may) have to pay your employees for no work. In the grand scheme it's probably not that big of a deal, but I can see some being aggravated by it being a holiday

Teachers were the biggest hold up because it doesn’t fall within the teaching year like Columbus Day. Personally I don’t care I’ll still be at work.

Exactly. Sure it really wasn't a public thing until recently but the end of slavery should be celebrated. Make it a federal holiday already.

Is the Fed gov't going to stop taking Columbus Day off, since Columbus has been cancelled?

I imagine that it's a helluva story to blacks.

And it will be a helluva story if it helps tilt the election even ever so slightly.

Hell tag it to the Friday or Monday before/after Father's day and make Father's day a 3 day weekend. It would fit with the strong paternal nature of the effected community.

His entire 2016 campaign was a huge pander-fest.

The fact that his target was not a defined minority does NOT make his actions less of a "pander."

Before this:

Trumpkins: Juneteenth is a stupid, racist holiday!!

Trump pushes for it to be a holiday:

Trumpkins: What's the problem with it being a holiday?

Love it.

Only problem I have with this is the name is stupid. I have no problem celebrating the end of slavery.
