We have got to get JBE out of office this fall otherwise he’ll ruin Louisiana!

His progressive plans will not work here and will fail because for one, there aren’t enough rich people to pay for all the taxes, welfare, and Medicaid here, and two all the rich people, businesses, and industries will leave because of the tax rates.

Another reason is, how can we trust corrupt politicians here in our state to get even more of our money through taxes. They have never put that money where it’s supoosed to go so what makes you think they’ll do it now when they’re taking more of our money!

We need someone who isn’t a politician to takeover this state and put it back in the right spot. Someone who knows how to handle money and tax dollars, and someone who knows how to attract businesses, industries, and oil and natural gas industries so that our state can compete with other states in the oil and natural gas world.

P.S. we also need to get JBE out this fall so we can get rid of F. King Alexander. JBE will protect him and F. King sucks and needs to go

Sounds like a swell idea! I’m sure you would love a Jindal clone as long as they have an R next to their name

Jindal nearly ruined Louisiana, but the state is not ruined yet.

BTW, you're an idiot, and you can't write for shite.

Did you not understand the part of my post that says to put a non-politician in office? I’ll admit, Jindal did do bad especially his last 2 years as governor, and I’ll be the first to admit that but someone like Eddie Rispone is certainly not a Jindal clone

If you're still talking about Bobby Jindal in 2019 after four years of JBE running the show, you literally have nothing at all as to why JBE deserves to be reelected.

If y'all think JBE and Jindal were bad (which they were/are), you can always come steal former governor Mary Fallin from Oklahoma.

She did a swell job here

Jindal's failures was more about what he refused to do and instead put on smoke screen after smoke screen and then abandoning this state for a Presidential run that was dead in the water before he could even get to Iowa.

If his second term went the way his first term went and he actually did his job as the Governor of Louisiana, Jindal would likely have a job as a member of President Donald Trump's cabinet right now.

At least y'all didn't make the same mistake we did in Louisiana by overreacting and putting a liberal tax and spend democrat in charge.

Agreed.

Now lets find a candidate that
1. Isn't a RINO
2. Can actually win

I am not too confident in what we are pugting forward. These guys running against JBE may be great guys, but they just aren't moving the needle for the masses imho.

I almost hope you guys get your wish and get Rispone so when you’re still bitching in four years because he’s not been able to turn things around you’ll realize it’s the structure of our government and our constitution that is the problem and not whatever politician happens to be governor.

They do have a history of rolling incumbents into another term regardless of performance.

We know, we know; Edwards isn’t Jindal. We’ve heard that for four years now.

The problem is he’s Edwards.

Jindal tried to improve the state but got slapped back after about his first two years. His next 6 he just simply treaded water and essentially ran a national presidential campaign. He didn’t give a frick about the state and just wanted to further his career. I will not vote for a Jindal clone just because there is an R next to his name.

But I sure as hell won’t vote for JBE because I disagree strongly with the policies he’s has enacted (Medicare expansion, continuation of tax credits to film industry, and not tackling our over-litigious civil court system).

I think we need someone who’s successfully run a business to try and run this state, and they need to not be afraid to piss some voters off, like the republicans have always been

Actually...

Jindal’s first term was a roaring success. That’s why Louisian overwhelming re-elected him. He got 65.8% of vote as compared to JBE’s 56.1%.

The first half of Jindal’s second term was equally successful.

Then oil fell. For example WTI oil fell from a high of $113.39 a barrel in 2011, to a low of $34.73 in 2015. This resulted in a loss of over $2 billion in state oil revenues and a budget deficit of over $2 billion.

Jindal was too busy running for president instead of facing this real world problem. His solution was to plug the 2014 hole with one time money and hope oil revenues would return. They didn’t. So in 2015, he plastered over the problem with gimmicks.

Enter 2015 and JBE. JBE wouldn’t fix the actual problem of Louisiana’s bloated government either. He loves bloated government and his first act was to increase it. So the problem was larger, and JBE reached for the normal solution of too much government spending, he increased taxes on Louisiana workers.

This did not fill the the deficit hole. It only has caused Louisiana to lag behind the Southern average in the booming Trump economy!

But the deficits are better you say? Yes they are because the bounce back in oil prices have increased government revenues!
Oil price average per barrel WTI crude by year:
2014, $97.98
2015, $48.72
2016, $43.58
2017, $50.84
2018, $64.90
2019, no average because year is only 4 months old, but it was $63.89 on Friday 4/12/19

So Jindal caused 25% subpar economic results and 75% superior economic results. And JBE has caused 100% subpar economic results.

And you vilify Jindal while praising JBE?! I hope to get better than both JBE and Jindal. We must stop the outmigration of our children seeking economic opportunities. Soon the rest of the South might start demanding a wall to prevent Louisiana economic refugees. That’s why I’m voting Abraham.

Good luck. I lived in BR 1974 - 1994. LA struggled with another Edwards during that time, but he kept promising good times and casinos.

Meanwhile, things continued to get worse. As I said, good luck. I suspect you will need it.

Quoting not just for accuracy, but that it is so accurate I want to be able to refer to it in future posts. Jindal did a lot of good in 6 years. But then did some terrible stuff for some transparently selfish reasons which made him politically radioactive.

You left out two important nuggets about the revenue shortfall we had.

The number one reason we closed the shortfall was the initial massive tax increase we had which shocked the state economy into a statewide recession and the subsequent renewal of half that increase.

It wasn’t streamlining government, cutting waste; it was all more taxes.
How hard is it to find more revenues when you raise taxes over a billion dollars?

The second thing that helped was Trump’s tax plan that enabled the state to gain a windfall in revenues as federal taxpayers had reduced taxes. As the federal tax liabilities decreased La. tax liabilities increased dumping millions into the La. treasury.

Edwards tried to ignore this statistical quirk and raise taxes even higher than he did, but Republicans blocked him.
