In the modern protectionist “America First” era of the GOP, could you ever see the party moving to a platform that protects Union rights. Since the decline of the unions since the 70s real wages have no moved at all for the majority of the American working class. I could see this as a natural progression from the tariffs & the corporations vs the corporations battle that we see the President heading up. Also it was the union workers in MI, PA, and Wisconsin that delivered Trump his victory in 2016.

Not far fetched. However, Unions will just shift to represent working minorities to continue to support democrats. The establishment republicans will never support.

Both establishment wings of the parties support corporate welfare and do not give 2 fricks about main street. It is funny how people forget Obama is the largest corporate welfare president in history. There is a reason why the technocrats loved him.

Unions are opposed to free market forces. I'm not saying that union members should be taken out and shot. But it wouldn't bother me that much.

The Union workers delivered his win? That’s quiet an imagination you have. There is a reason more states are becoming right to work startes. I’m looking forward to the Supreme Court decision this summer on public unions.

If the unions were recognized for what they are (quasi national monopolies) and broken up so that there was competition, then I can see the GOP formally supporting them more.

Is there a better way to protect unions than bringing manufacturing jobs to the U.S. and limiting people coming to the U.S. to go after those jobs??

I don't care how good you think your union is. Unions simply cannot be strong in the long run with unemployment at 6% much less 7%, or 8%.

Why the f**k would the GOP want to protect the unions? The unions refused to support the GOP and Trump. The unions are one of the biggest power brokers of the democrats and destroying them is just good politics.

Union workers in those states did support the Trump and the GOP, but the unions did not. The only reason the Trump and the GOP won those states is because the union members rebelled on the union.

Unions, especially if they were to be fractured, can still serve a purpose in a free market economy. Unions want money and job security, and as mentioned above, everything the Trump admin has done should guarantee more of both as lo g as he follows through on it.

Public sector unions are a poison even a progressice dictator like FDR opposed. There is an inherent friction between labor and capital - capitalists and Marxists just disagree on the amount and solution to that friction. No one but tit-sucking leeches would posit that there is friction between government workers and the endless capital and 0 profit motive of public service. "Ask not what your country can do for you" or get the frick out of government.
